Waffle House — Restaurant in Starkville

My wife and I took our son to breakfast here Sunday around 10:30am. The crowd wasn't crazy yet and we were asked to take a seat in a booth within 5min of being there.

Now to start things off, the table we were seated at still had the dirty dishes sitting on the table. I assumed the young woman would return to collect them but she never returned. We sat at the table with dirty dishes and nothing to drink and no waitress or anyone acknowledging us. After around an hour had passed, I commented that this seems rather chaotic. The table behind me chimed in they had already been there an hour with no food. They also pointed out people who arrived after them that were already eating.

This seemed to be accurate because I ordered eggs with cheese, grits with cheese, and toast and saw several people who had entered after my family eating eggs and such. I guess the system was the culprit for this disaster. It didn't appear to be any real organization with how tickets were placed for the cook. There were 9 people maneuvering in the kitchen and no one serving customers in the dining area. As if the dine in customer being hours behind being served wasn't bad enough, they were taking several to-go orders.

I think the staff were nice and meant well, they just appeared to be lacking the leadership to tell them exactly what they need to do to be successful. Hopefully they get some management to help them correct things because I enjoyed eating there for quite some time and would love to keep up the...

We stopped in on Friday night. Specifically, Friday night before the MSU homecoming game. Surprisingly, they weren’t busy and we thought that would make for quick service. Absolutely not. We weren’t greeted and the only available booth table was dirty. We stood for a second near the table waiting for it to be cleared. No one came. We opted to sit at the available bar spots. We sat down and one of the staff grabbed a garbage can toted it over to the table we had been waiting on and cleared it off. She never acknowledged us even though she looked right at us as she walked by, even stopped to grab the garbage can from in front of where we sat down at the bar. We sat and waited. Other people came in to place to go orders and pick up to go orders. One waiter servicing another area asked if we had been helped and he said he would let her know… nothing. We finally left after maybe 15 minutes. Again, not super busy. Not a great look for a conveniently placed Waffle House on a weekend tons of people are coming into town for...

The only reason I'm rating a 2 star is because there were 4 cooks and between them all our food was correct and good. My husband and I normally love the Waffle House and can always count on a good meal and an enjoyable atmosphere. Not this morning!! I had ask for decaffeinated coffee and was told they had none made. "I said, I'll have water." When the waitress walked away, I told my husband, "back in my day we offered and made the coffee for the customer." (I worked for Waffle House off and on for 18 years.) It broke my heart to see how rundown they have allowed the wait staff to take them. I also ask for Heinz 57 sauce for my hashbrowns. I was pointed to at the condiment holder, but to her amazement there was none. She had to bring more to our table. When she did she slammed it in its holder. Yes, I mean slammed. My husband was never offered a refill in his coffee. We were never ask if our food was ok. We were never as if we...
