We dined at Tripplets at the The Nittany Lion Inn last Thursday and will certainly go back again. The experience started a little rough, there was no one working the hosting station so the bartender finally told us to seat ourselves, and apparently we sat at a table that was unassigned. After catching the eye of one of the servers, she agreed to get us started, and was gracious thereafter. Drinks then came promptly and were welcome, the appetizers, Garden Salad for me, fresh and delicious, and Chili for my Husband. He had the Burger, which he enjoyed very much, for his entree and I choose the Chili. Let me say we both agreed, other than homemade Chili, this is the best Chili we’ve had out since moving to State College. Not a tomato base, but not exactly a white Chili either, it was rich and hearty, with a variety of beans and meat. Wasn’t what I’d call spicy, but it had a nice kick in a balanced, flavorful way. For the Chili alone I’d go back. I am really glad this place reopened, the refurbished building is as beautiful, if reimagined...
Read moreWe arrived between 930 and 10pm after a concert hoping to get dinner. The hostess was great about bussing a table that was newly free to seat us before the kitchen closed at 10.
Long story short, though the service was good, the food was meh. I had the burger and fries, and the fries were clearly the last fries left in the bin for the night. My wife got the small plate shrimp, which was 6 pretty good scampi shrimp, but a bit small for 15 dollars. My burger was good, but over powered by the the blue cheese and jam. And the dark chocolate cake we shared was pretty dry..either day old or just not moist to start, and not worth finishing. With drinks and tip it was about 84 bucks, which was a price not reflective of the experience. Maybe the food is better mid-day, but that...

Decided to try it between events on campus. Walked in and was greeting quickly, it was not crowded on a Sunday at dinner time, empty bar and 3 tables with customers.
Sat for approximately 15 minutes, no server came to the table to take food or drink orders. After this long wait, I went to the bar to ask if they could get our waitress. No luck. After 15 more minutes, we gave up and walked out.
Unacceptable for a “high end” establishment. 1 local customer/university employee that won’t be back, and definitely not a place I will recommend to anyone in or coming to town. If you’re reading this, go down to College or Beaver Ave instead and pick any of the bars or restaurants there, they’ll appreciate...
