Cracker Barrel Old Country Store — Restaurant in Statesville

Update: we ate here again last night!! It was Amazing, the waitress we had was was named Loretta she has worked here for so long, she is a true staple at this Cracker Barrel , I was so pleased to see she was waiting on us!!! We both ordered pancakes with hot blueberry syrup crispy bacon and I added two eggs fried, they arrived and WOW ! They looked like a picture( I should have taken one I was too hungry and forgot sorry)! They smelled delicious and oh wait for it!!! They tasted HEAVENLY!! Everything perfect as ordered. Not cold, not greasy just perfect Crispy bacon oh wow! I am so happy 😀 I thanked Loretta for a perfect meal and ask her to relay the same to the cooks!!!! So very happy it was not a repeat from before! Excellent Experience!!!!! If my husband it happy with his meal I am even happier!!!!! Thanks Again! Old reviews below:

. Unfortunately now we have alot of problems our order is not right or food temperature is wrong. My husband was served country fried steak gravy and the gravy looked like water with baby powder mixed in it. Then anytime ordered something off the menu and the waitress at that time said they were out of it then 20 minutes later said no they still had some so they brought it out to him and it was cold. They had it for a takeout order then when noone picked it up they tried giving it to my husband. Then another time my husband actually had a piece of plastic from a lid in his mac and cheese melt in to it! Go figure 🤔! UPDATE The upper customer care representative emailed me wanting to get location of this store apologized for our experiences and promised things would be looked into! I hope things get better here for all of us! 😁❤️😁Update they have improved their restaurant very well !! The food has been hot and delicious! The staff very attentive !Thanks so much we love our local Cracker Barrel it was important that it offered good food and gives people that travel though here and the locals too a great restaurant and stays open! Only they can fail it by not listening to paying customers that CARE enough to complain the ones that don’t just wouldn’t come back anyway, this time perfect host, perfect and extremely accommodating very sweet waitress that is still in high school just started her job, but excelled at it !!! Corporate take note of that Name on receipt Ryleigh R. S he needs recognition for outstanding service and performance when something was not right she admitted the fault, don’t find that anymore. I came in for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. It was busy but not overly crowded. I was told my wait would be 30 minutes. I requested a seat away from the air vents. My wait was about 15 minutes, which was fast as i was browsing the famous Cracker Barrel store. I was greeted with a smile, placed in a great seat (NOT UNDER AN AIR VENT) [Thank You Very Much]. I ordered a Grilled Cheese sandwich with Bacon and Mayo (Sandwich Extra Crispy). I ordered Fried Pickles (extra crispy). Since I only wanted the sandwich (but it can only be ordered as a kids meal) and I did not want any sides, I had asked if they might take a dollar or two off of the desert that I had intended to order as a to go item (in lieu of the side item).

When the sandwich arrived, one side was sufficiently grilled the second side was still soggy and not crisp or browned. I had to send it back. When it came back, it was sufficiently browned / crisp on each side, however it did not have the Mayo on it, so the inside was as dry as a bone. The cheese did not cover the majority of the bread. By the time the mayonaise packets arrived, the sandwich had cooled significantly and the cheese was no longer gooey ( ruining the whole grilled cheese crispy outside, gooey inside experience for me). 2. The fried pickles were also gooey inside (the batter was not sufficiently cooked). They offered to re cook the pickles order. It was taking so long to get the new order back, i had finished my sandwich and was ready to leave so I told the manager to not bother bringing them out at that point. April my server was nice, she was friendly, understanding, professional. Her manager Pam was pleasant, but not so helpful the first time I spoke to her. I placed my order for my to go peach cobbler. It arrived quickly, well packaged, ice cream separated from the cobbler, plastic utensils included, but no napkin. I am disappointed to say the least. I usually love the food and the atmosphere. I had asked for the managed to come back over as I thought a bill of $30 was a bit high for a grilled cheese sandwich and a piece of peach cobbler. At that point Pam the manager said they had removed the pickles from my bill, but no one had said anything to me, nor had the bill on my table been replaced to reflect the change. Pam then immediately retrieved the updated bill, wished me well and made sure to inquire if there was anything else that she could do for me. Her personality, professionalism, and willingness to listen and respond to my request, needs, wants redeemed her in my eyes. The review went from a 1 star to a 3 star before I finished writing it. The food glitches were unfortunate (they are inevitable in the food service industry) but the staff being willing to correct and compensate for these glitches are what makes the difference in an occasional customer and a loyal repeat customer. Christmas Eve (afternoon)- My husband called to ask about the hours of operation, as we had just learned that we would be entertaining an unexpected guest and wanted to pop in to the gift shop for one of their beautiful gifts. We were not looking for a dine-in experience, simply a quick stop into the gift shop.

The employee responded that they would be locking the doors at 1:00, and be closed at 2:00 because, "they needed to go home to their families too". My husband responded that he understood that, but was wondering if they would be closing the gift shop at 1:00 as well, or just the dining room. She responded, "Why would we close one and not the other?" Before my husband could say anything else, she then added, "Maybe you should've planned ahead!"

Both my husband and myself have worked with the public for many years, and we both make a concerted effort to conduct ourselves in a kind and professional manner in all phone calls. It is important to note that he did not in any way provoke the treatment that he received. I do understand that the holidays can be a very difficult time for many, and an especially challenging time to work with the public.

Also noteworthy, (and easily verifiable with a quick scroll through my other reviews) I do not take a negative review lightly, and am much more likely to leave a brief review with a few positive notes, or no review at all if the encounter was not good. However, I believe that customer service is important and that it is the very foundation that businesses stand or fall on. I would not have taken the time on a very busy Christmas Eve to leave a review here, had this employee's treatment of my husband not been so surprising, unwarranted and just flat out rude.
