We ordered online while on a road trip. My husband is limited to what he can eat as he is gluten free and allergic. Ordering online was simple and easy-we had no problem with that. We arrived and I had to get in line for a fountain drink I forgot to add the order. I saw the cherry limeade and was excited to try it out for the first time. I order after a short wait and attempted to paid. The woman at the register (whose name badge said manager) told me my card was declined. I don't know what she did but my bank card worked fine before and after that which leads me to believe that was an error. I didn't get the lime for my drink and the cherry limeade at the free style was disgusting. It tasted like cherry syrup. I went to get our bag of food and found only the sandwiches. They failed to include the 3 kids drinks, 3 kids sides, and my husband's chips. There were 4 employees working but it seemed very chaotic. I finally asked someone where my missing items were at and he went in search of everything. He came back with a brownie, cookie, and 3 fountain cups. Apparently, you have to go find your own chips and the kids apple juice and chocolate milk I ordered were not available. So my kids ended up with fountain drinks. I then took the food out to the car and started distributing to our hungry family of 5. I handed my husband's sub to him and we found it was not on gluten free bread but regular. On top of paying $2 extra for the gf sub bun receiving anything else could make my husband sick and land him in the BR during our road trip. Not very desirable. I went inside AGAIN and told them it was not a gf bun. The manager apologized and said they would remake it. The kid who made the mistake said "oh, I forgot to put it on a gf bun." No apology. I told him that could make someone sick and he needed to pay attention to that. No response. After waiting 10 minutes I left with my husband's correct sub. We started driving down the road when I finally opened mine. Of course, mine was wrong as well. I paid extra for turkey, in addition to my ham, which was left off. There was no mayo and my sandwich was dry. My husband offered to turn around but I told him to keep driving. Horrible experience! I would not return. This seems really sad to me as this was our first time at firehouse and I was expecting more especially since husband is a firefighter/medic. First impressions...
Read moreAnother excellent visit to Firehouse Subs Staunton, VA location. I enjoy dropping by this location when traveling thru the area not only because of the terrific subs & super customer service, but it's also fairly easy to navigate to from I-81. It's always been a very clean, friendly, and relaxing place to stop and grab a bite to eat. But enough about the location and onto the main reason you go to Firehouse Subs, the food. It's frequently an internal debate of mine when I'm standing at the counter getting ready to order about which of the delicious items to have, but I personally have a "go to" choice that you can't go wrong in having ... the Italian Sub "fully involved" combo! Is it because it was the first Firehouse Subs sammich I tried, or simply because it's a top tier caliber choice? I'm not sure, but then you do always remember your first ... lol! I always pair the Italian Sub with a bag of jalapeno chips and an ice cold Coca-Cola from the "Coke Freestyle" machine, which is yet another of the reasons that I love visiting the various Firehouse Subs locations. Trust me, you won't leave disappointed, or hungry!
Update- Intentionally planned a trip so that I could stop by and try the new 'Cajun Chicken' sub on 01/06/2019, and I'm so glad I did. Even though I arrived about 30 minutes before closing, I was met with a friendly greeting and warm smile. Employees were preparing to close, but they took my order and promptly prepared my order.
The 'Cajun Chicken' sub is wonderful. It's not too spicy, but rather has a warm hint of cajun flavor. I'll be ordering this item again, but will be amping up the heat on my next one.

Read moreSomeone ordered me a sandwich on the way home from work. Get home and its made wrong, no big deal, I'll take it back. The person at the counter argued with me that the sandwich was made as ordered, and showed me where it was entered in. I asked if the person ringing up the order could have mis-typed something and maybe that's what happened. The person behind the counter told me again that no mistake was made on their part, and that they would remake the order this time, but they wouldn't do it again because it was an expensive sandwich ($17).
I offered to just pay for the sandwich again because it was a problem at this point. The person who brought the sandwich home even said "make sure you check it, because i had to tell the guy several times what to put on the sandwich, I don't think he was paying attention ". Well, he wasn't paying attention, but that was apparently the fault of the person ordering the sandwich, not the person making the sandwich. A simple "sorry that happened, let me fix it" would have been fine. If I was rude about it I would understand the argument, but I tried to be polite and was met with "well, this isn't...
