So it’s not often that I write reviews, however I feel like this really warrants one. A few days ago I had my oil changed at a Take 5 location near my work. Everything went well and I had no issues. Sunday came around and while driving up to my house I heard knocking noises and had issues with car acceleration. I immediately pulled up to my home, shut off the car and checked the oil. It was bone dry and there was oil all underneath my car. It’s important to note that I regularly get my oil changed and have a more recent vehicle. I’ve gone to Take 5 before and have never had issues.
Most people would read this and immediately swear away this establishment, but please keep reading. I immediately called the Take 5 Staunton location and the manager Alex wasted no time getting in touch with the other shop manager to determine what the next steps were. Alex then drove personally to my home where my car was sitting so I wouldn’t have to get a tow and checked my car over. Turns out the gasket on the oil filter canister snapped and allowed for oil to leak out over the weekend. Alex took the time to change my oil again, free of charge. We checked the old oil for metal fragments and there were none. However, I expressed I’d like peace of mind and wanted to take my car to have an engine diagnostic test run and he expressed that Take 5 would cover the costs. He was patient with my plethora of questions and genuinely took the time to make sure my car was taken care of. After having the dealership look at the engine, and getting positive feedback , I notified Take 5 and they still expressed that they’d be happy to help me check my oil levels over the next couple weeks until my next oil change.
It’s hard to find honest, dedicated, and reliable people when it comes to auto maintenance, but Alex and his team pulled out all the stops. They certainly kept my business and made sure I was taken care of. That’s customer service. And that’s a community focused business....
Read moreI took my vehicle to the Take 5 in Staunton, for an oil change. Initially, everything seemed fine, but after driving about 4,000 miles, I experienced a severe oil leak. My mechanic confirmed that the upper oil pan was damaged, and he indicated that this damage likely resulted from the oil change service at Take 5.
I contacted Take 5 to resolve the issue, but they refused to take responsibility, claiming it was too long after the service. However, the damage was directly related to their service, as confirmed by my mechanic. Furthermore, my sister also had her oil changed at the same Take 5 location, and she faced the same issue.
After communicating with Jacob, the district manager, for several weeks, he assured me he would contact my mechanic, visit the vehicle, and inspect it. However, he never followed through. He claimed to have inspected the vehicle and concluded that the damage was caused by someone else, which was untrue. He never contacted my mechanic, never visited the vehicle, and never even got the keys to assess the situation properly.
I urge others to be cautious when considering this service. My experience highlights negligence and poor customer service, and it seems to be a recurring issue at...
Read moreI am 81 years old and I have always done my own oil changes. But, 6 weeks ago I had a knee replacement and am not able to do so right now. I'm taking a road trip next week and wanted to change the oil before leaving. So I talked to the folks at Take 5 and they were wlling to use my oil (20,000 mi Mobil One & extended filter) and change my oil for $40. In the process they checked all fluids and filters, topping-off the coolant and recommending that I replace the air filter soon. The crew, led by Jose (wish I had gotten his last name), did a phenomenal job. They were quick, thorough and delightful to interact with. Best $40 I've spent in awhile. I have another knee replacement scheduled in 7 weeks and will definitely be returning to Take 5. In fact, I think I am done with DIY and intend to have them do all my oil changes from now on. I can't say enough good things about my experiece at Take 5. If you need an oil change do yourself a favor and...
