Went there for lunch today by myself and had an enjoyable meal of chicken teriyaki with fried rice. The service was great and the food was good quality. The only gripes I had was with the company at the table with me. The couple across from me was fine, however the caucasian family next to me started some unnecessary racist charades in the restaurant. Nearing the end of the meal the waitress came by to ask if anyone needed boxes. One of the elderly women said , "No, because it was bad." The waitress asks why. Elderly woman says, "because I wanted the vegetables everyone else had but I got cabbage and bean sprouts." Now before she even ordered the veggie delight, they explained that it included cabbage and bean sprouts. However, neither before, nor during the cooking did she care to mention that she didn't want those kinds of veggies. Another waitress comes by to see what the problem is and tries to explain that you have to say something if you want something specific from what is described in the menu. The elderly woman continues to say, "well I didn't know what was on there." This was already explained to her several times and she did not mention anything about it. She asks to speak to the manager and the first waitress says there is no manager currently on staff at that time. Whether this is true or not, I cannot say. However, at this moment as she's trying to explain the item the elderly woman ordered, the old woman puts her hand up and says, "Stop talking, the hand is up." She continues to say, "I know you speak better english than that." The second waitress tries to explain that she's just trying to do her job and that they didn't understand what the elderly woman was trying to say. In the end, the racist family leaves and grumbles to themselves on how they're not coming back and have to find a new japanese restaurant.
The purpose of this was just to note that the staff did what they could to explain the situation and figure out a solution, despite having unreasonable customers. Kudos to the staff. No kudos to the microaggressions from the racist family. You probably shouldn't dine out after CHURCH at a Japanese restaurant if you want to spew your racist comments because you're dissatisfied with your meal. You should probably go back for the second service in the afternoon. By the way, Jesus wasn't white, nor did he...
Read moreFrom the moment I walked in it felt like a hostile environment. Nobody greeted us and the guy behind the sushi bar just looked at us. After waiting 5 minutes a lady walked out and greeted us. She was looking for our order on a table confused. She then gave us a receipt and my friend told her this isn’t ours. My friend said it wasn’t ours because what we ordered wasn’t what it said on the receipt. She then ensured us it was so we opened it to check. I ordered the Hibachi Chicken combination and when we opened it we had teriyaki chicken, which I was confused and told her I didn’t order this. She then tried snatching the box from me and told me she would remake it. Due to her trying to snatch it from me and her attitude. I was explaining to her I don’t want her to take the food in the back. She continued trying to take the box out my hand. She did get it out my hand then walked to the back I then told the guy at the sushi bar I don’t want my food. I wanted a refund. He went to the back to get her. I also opened the rice and tasted it with my spoon and it was over cooked and sticking together. She finally came back about 5 or so minutes later and I told her I wanted the refund. She got upset and started yelling at me she’ll redo it all. I told her no, it’s okay I just want a refund. She then said no I’m not giving it to you, you can just call the cops on me. I told her no I will just contact my bank because you made my food wrong in the first place and I asked for a refund and your denying me of this. I’m not taking the food because the order is wrong. I then left the food on the table and left.
For the privacy of the employee I cropped her out the photo. As you can seen my bag is open because I was checking the food and noticed it was the wrong food. Also I took this after I walked out because she was...
Read moreI am not usually one to leave a review, let alone a bad one. BUT! My boyfriend and I chose shogun for our anniversary since our families usually go here for special occasions. I’d like the preface with the fact that we’ve eaten A LOT of hibachi in our lives haha so we know what’s up. First off, we ordered waters to start off. The waitress took a while to come back and didn’t bring our drinks. We were never served our drinks the entire time we were there. We were then rushed to order our meals. We got sushi, which was delicious. But, when it came time for our meal to be made on the grill, it went down hill. The grill had old food sitting on it from the time we sat down, specifically old dried out peas... The chef did not do the typical tricks you see, not even the onion volcano!:( he didn’t say more than 5 words to us, and acted like he didn’t want to be cooking for us. the food was bland, not a drop of butter was added to the grill, when it was sitting there melting on the cart. We asked for yum yum sauce and we’re given ginger sauce instead. When we asked again (nicely) and he blew us off and told us to ask the waitress. We did not receive it until we were 80% done with our meal and it was not the normal yum yum we’ve gotten from here, it was basically just Mayo. When it came time to pay the bill we were rushed to pay and leave, the waitress stood there and stared until we paid. Lastly, the overall way we were treated was extremely strange. There were at least 5 other parties that came in after us and they refused to seat them by us. We were treated like a bother for dining there. Overall, the experience was horrible and not worth $90. The health department might need to pay them a visit as well in terms of the grills and the bathroom condition. We will not be...
