Sterling Coney Island — Restaurant in Sterling Heights

Sterling Coney Island is a hidden gem! My friend & I found this place by happenstance when we drove past it after our visit to the 16/Van Dyke FedEx/Kinko's in the same strip mall. It sits further down in the strip mall complex & I personally have never seen it in all the times I've visited this strip mall. I checked the Google reviews, they were good so we decided to give it a try. Now, I'm so glad we did! This may be the new "Go To" spot from now on!

We placed a large to-go order because we planned on stretching out food over the next 2-3 days. Sterling Coney Island is the place to do it too because the portions here are huge! The restaurant is very clean & the staff greeted me with a smile. They were extremely helpful and the chef/cook was cheerful and efficient.

We ordered breakfast, lunch & dinner items. Here's the breakdown...we ordered: The Sterling Omelette, Western Omelette w/cheese, a Full order of Blueberry Pancakes, 4 Coney's, a small Chicken Greek Salad and a cup of Chicken Lemon Rice soup.

The Sterling Omelette is HUGE...4XL eggs FULL of seasoned ground beef, onions, peppers, tomatoes & cheese, topped with a gang of chili. Good lawd...I liked to fell over when I saw it. The Western Omelette was huge as well. They both came w/hash browns & toast. We could only finish half of the omelette & half the hash browns. The rest will be tomorrow's breakfast. Next, the full order of Blueberry Pancakes (3 HUGE pancakes) were made w/fresh blueberries bursting in all that fluffy pancake deliciousness. One pancake alone (w/a cup of coffee) is enuff for a full breakfast, nevermind the 3 pancakes in a full order. They also have half orders too.

The Coneys: My friend gobbled up 2 Coney dogs like wildfire. In between bites he managed to report that the coneys were "GOOWUDT!" & he will come back on Wednesday's for the .99¢ Coney special from now on. I don't eat swine so I digress. Lol.

The Chicken Greek Salad comes in a small or large. I ordered the small. I thought I was given a large but alas...NO. Their small salad is as big as a large salad anywhere else. There is more yummy grilled chicken than I can shake a spoon at. Even the beet slices are thick & generous. Lastly, that Chicken Lemon Rice soup...I relished the 3 spoonfuls I tasted. The soup was steamy hot & delicious. I haven't had Chicken Lemon Rice soup that delicious in years!! I'm saving that soup for tomorrow's lunch. Maybe...lol.

The service is excellent. The food is delicious. The portions are generous. The menu items are vast & interesting. The prices are very reasonable especially for the serving sizes. Sterling Coney Island gets 5⭐'s from the both of us...that...

This place has 4.8 well deserved stars and is right around the corner from our Airbnb. I had the meat lovers breakfast and requested the bacon and hash browns crispy. Perfect job! The country special has biscuits and gravy covered with 3 eggs. A ton of food for mere mortals. The other dish was sausage, eggs and hash browns. He later told me he ordered the bacon, but the sausage was very good so he didn’t send them back. All the food was great! My guests did have the coffee and found it to be “OK” and on...

I love this place. Close to our place with excellent food and service. When you go there it feels like home. Our usual waitress, Brenda is so down to earth and friendly and the Cook is fantastic. I have never been let down here. Reasonably priced with a vast menu serving breakfast thru dinner. Take a chance....try their croutons, patty melt, coneys, chicken quesadillos, OH and the soup!
