Fire your cook Edited per your request, added a star because you seem to at least honestly care. You are a steakhouse. Steaks are expensive and not everybody can just go out for a steak super often. My classmates and I were driving home from training in Nebraska for two days straight in swampy, ninety degree weather. This is not your fault, but I'm trying to get you to understand that all we wanted was a nice steak at the end of a rough weekend, and they were overcooked. Mine was supposed to be rare but was served medium well. I ate it anyway. My friend's was brown inside. He didn't want to be a bother but he had paid good money for a medium well steak and was served a well done steak, so we sent it back and got a bloody rare steak instead of a medium well steak. Again, we didn't want to be a bother, but this expensive steak was important to him and so he asked them to cook it a little longer. Tons of time passed. We were just kind of sitting there waiting for the steak to come back out. I ordered a desert thinking that your cook could get ice cream and a brownie together before my friend got his steak back. It didn't come out until way, way later than that. To be fair, the third time it came out it was perfectly cooked. It just took forever. My green beans also didn't come out with the rest of my meal and were cold with a cold dollop of butter on them. That, combined with the steak mistakes and the length of time it took everything to come out, felt like a little bit of a slap in the face all together. It felt careless and felt like for the money we paid it was not really important to you. However I see that you have consistently asked people to explain why the food is bad, so I think you do care, but that your cook's work doesn't reflect this. If you want solid advice, tell them to check the steaks before sending them out. They should know how to do this because you are a steakhouse, an expensive one at that. But in case they don't know, you can tell a steak is rare if you poke it and the indent stays. A steak is medium if it's a little firm when you poke it, and the indent slowly goes back up. A steak is well done if it's firm and springy when you poke it. If your cook doesn't want to poke it, they can also use a meat thermometer to test the internal temperature of the steak. After practicing, they'll be able to eventually intuit how done a steak is. Maybe don't fire them, that was harsh, but ask them to time food better so it doesn't come out late and cold. Tell them that people can't just buy expensive steak all the time and that it comes across as careless when they serve a steak that was ordered medium rare as well done after a long wait, then as bloody rare after another long wait. This might be okay if you were an outback steakhouse charging outback steakhouse prices. But you are a nice steakhouse with nice steak prices, serving outback steakhouse steaks. The quality of the meat is good and after the third try it was perfect, but for the price and cool atmosphere it wasn't properly cooked steak. I'm not a restaurant owner but if you want feedback, that's my honest experience. I don't know if your kitchen is understaffed, if your cooks are underpaid or inexperienced, but I...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePlanned a Valentine's Day dinner with my husband and a few of our friends. There were 8 of us total. We arrived and was seated timely which was the only timely thing of the night. We met our waitress within 5 mins of being seated. She greeted us and moved along her way. About 20 mins after seating she finally took our DRINK order which did NOT arrive promptly after ordering. We were an hour and 10 mins (yes,1 hour 10 mins) into our RESERVED seating, when we finally got our orders taken. They had a Valentine's menu for $95 a couple. It included one appetizer, 2 entrees and 1 dessert. When placing our order (1 1/2 after arriving) we placed an order for all three. 30 mins after our initial order we recieved our salads with no dressing and an excuse on why. A few mins later our cold as hell fried mushrooms arrived, again with no dressing. By this point we are 2 hours into our non eating dinner and decide to say something to the owners wife. At no point was she apologetics or even understanding of our irritation. She give us a big speech on the fact that we had only had our order in for 50 mins!!...well what about the the first hour and 10 mins it took her to take our order in the first place. The owners wife pretty much told us we are being unruler with the fact that it's Valentines day š¶. Long story short, not only was there numerous thing wrong with our order but by the end of our meal, the dessert I ordered 2 hours ahead of time for a $95 total, was all out. That was the most frustrating experience at a resturant i have ever experienced and with a $95 price tag PLUS $12s a drink, I was COMPLETELY DISAPPOINTED AND FRUSTRATED. (Did I mention that i had to have my desset to go because they were closing by the time we finally were able to order it...was still finishing my plate when my dessert order was put in for the new not Valentine's dessert. Not onlywaas this place a joke on our friend- couple Valentine's day but so was this manager (owners wife š). I can honestly say 8 LOCAL people will never rely on this establishment to assist us in celebrating Valentines day or any other day for that matter. Bill ended with a $160 with gratitude included...gratitude for what a three hour long frustrating...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreValentineās Day fell on Ash Wednesday this year, being practicing Catholics, we could not eat meat. I really wa salmon and this was the only place I knew that offered salmon in town. My husband was not thrilled and did not want to go back. We had been in November for my birthday and the service was terrible and the restaurant had an awful sewer smell (I assume something may have been wrong with their hvac system, giving off that smell) agaisnt our better judgment we gave them another chance. We were there around 6, it wasnāt terribly busy, but steady. There was always open tables within sight of us. We ordered the valentines āspecialā (there was nothing special about it) it came with an appetizer to share, an entree each with two sides (we both got the salmon) and then a shared desert. The price was nowhere listed on the āspecial menuā I now understand why. I would too be embarrassed if I was charging $60 a person as a āspecial priceā. My ordered a baked potato as his side, and when our food finally came out the waitress says, Iām sorry weāre out of baked potato, I hope mashed potatos are okay. He asked if he could at least get a side of gravy for his mashed potatoes. It took 15 min minutes for her to bring that. (Again, it wasnāt terribly busy) I have the most patience and understanding for waitstaff. His meal was finished by the time she brought the side of gravy. I did really enjoy the salmon and thought it was well prepared. We were a bit shocked when we got the bill and it was $60 a person (our total was $150, my husband had 2 beers with our meal.) the salmon on the regular menu was less than $26. (an appetizer is $12, and dessert is $12 ish) how is this a special? my husband called the next day thinking there was an honest mistake made, and nope. that was the correct total. (how can anyone say that special and price out loud and think that sounds normal?) We travel often, and eat at some very renowned restaurants and have never seen anything like this. š³ unfortunately, unfortunately, we will...
