Please do not book with Woodspring Suites. For you and your family's sake. My experience with them was so painfully awful, that this is the first time I've ever written a bad review about anything ever. Here's what happened...
I booked Woodspring Suites through Chase's Travel app for a week stay for their weekly price during my Spring Break (I'm a teacher). We arrived to the hotel with nobody in the lobby. That was fine. However, I called Woodspring and they told me that my reservation was canceled due to a issue with fire! Neither Woodspring Suites nor Chase decided it was important enough to notify me about this situation. Woodspring Suites said its on Chase, Chase said that Woodspring Suites has my contact information and should've notified me. Either way, I was stuck with my wife and 5 month old daughter without a hotel on a Saturday night in Chicago. We spent 3 hours looking for hotels in the middle of the night, found nothing, and had to shamefully knock on a distant relative's door to sleep in their living room around 4am because it was our final and safest option. Worst part is, I felt like my family's safety was at risk.
Story isn't done yet. I called Sunday morning after the incident to see if there was any compensation for my experience or rooms available at Woodspring. They did not provide me any compensation and said that rooms weren't available until Monday. I was upset that I needed to find a hotel for another night and that they weren't able to compensate me for my experience.
At this point, you'd think I learn my lesson and not go back to Woodspring right? Wrong! 54$ a night for weekly rate was the best I can find. So I thought I'd go back and finally get my room for Monday until the end of my vacation. However, Woodspring Suites decided that because I'm only staying 5 night instead of 7 due to their own cancelation, they would charged my the nightly rate! Double the weekly rate that I had before!!! It was going to be more expensive for the 5 nights than what I was originally paying for 7 nights! They did not have the compassion, sympathy, or empathy to just give me the rate I had before, even though my first two awful nights of Spring Break was completely their fault!
Both Woodspring Suites and Chase didn't compensate me and made my first few days of Spring Break miserable. I ended up paying hundreds of dollars more than I originally thought for my vacation. You can bet that I'm leaving Chase after that experience. I hope my story truly has you reconsideing whether or not you book with this hotel. You might not have my same experience, but I can bet you that they'll treat you the same way they treated me if something...
Read moreUPDATE: 12/2/21 After being at this location for 90 days, it saddens me to say that I would no longer recommend this hotel to anyone. Pamela, the front desk agent is so unprofessional and rude. She must have skipped the customer service classes during her onboarding at the hotel. They charged me $70.90 because I allegedly did not tell her I was leaving on Wednesday. I informed the front desk on Monday evening that I would be checking out on Wednesday which was the last day of my weekly stay. I am not surprised that the evening front desk agent did not communicate my departure date. Where is management in this hotel? Pamela says that I have been placed on the NO RENT LIST! I want to THANK HER for ensuring I never have to be treated so poorly by her and this hotel ever again. BYE FELICIA 🤣! As if there aren’t hundreds of other hotels in the area. Please do yourself a favor and stay away from here, unless you must come here for the low weekly price. Its sad that the hotel is so nice and the room is modernly decorated but THE most important part, the service, SUCKS!
—— Ive been here over 30 days so here is the tea. This hotel is designed for extended stays. It has a kitchenette, full size fridge, microwave, nice size TV with a movie channel and a comfortable bathroom space. Bring your own dishes and body care items. The housekeeping, though short staffed (Hotel’s claim), does a descent job of maintaining the grounds. They try to provide you with room service every 14 days. Sometimes you might need to remind them to stop by. The bed is comfortable enough and the HVAC unit works flawlessly. I’m not sure if all the rooms are non smoking, but I’m pretty sure they are since I see smokers outside all the time. The price in comparison to other hotels in Chicagoland is very attractive. The location gets 5 stars because you are near everything you could possibly need.
My biggest issue with the hotel is the below par quality of customer service from some of the CUSTOMER SERVICE STAFF. Some of the staff often seems like they are bothered by your presence or are too preoccupied to do the basics, like smiling or wishing someone a good stay. Its rare that I leave the front desk feeling welcomed. However, I guess the get the job done.
My only other issue here is the fire alarms ringing at least twice a week at all different times of the day and night. The front desk says its patrons burning stuff on the burner tops. I guess there isn’t much the hotel staff can do about it. They did install fire suppressants above the burners recently, so at least they are being cautious.
Overall I would recommend this hotel. Stay at this location but don’t expect glitz...
Read moreTo Begin with, the staff was absolutely terrible, very rude and it seemed like they didn't care about us, the lady that checked us in was very soft spoken, mumbling, and messed up our reservation, she gave us the wrong room because apparently she gave OUR room away even tho we made the reservation 2 months prior. We ignore that and are just happy to get a room. We went to visit family and came back around 10ish to shower and rest. Around 12 AM a random person comes into our room while we are asleep!! A worker then came down and got mad at us for allegedly stealing the room when in reality they got their booking wrong! The worker did not apologize once and kept blaming it on us. We soon figured out you have to pay for extra towels, toilet paper and they don't even clean the rooms! You have to take out the trash and you have to go beg for new sheets, not to mention our Room didn't even come with a control for the Tv and the doors were broke. Overall Terrible place and don't recommend. I will never go back to this place. Do NOT come here, DO NOT. The worst hotel I've ever stepped foot in, they don't do their job, they don't mop, the elevators are dirty and yucky, they don't have overnight service. We tried leaving at 4 am in the morning but had to wait until 6 am to leave bc they wanted to take their sweet time and not answer the phone. Overall terrible service and would never this to anyone, have some dignity and don't come here. Do us a favor and shutdown the hotel, and the employees should just file for unemployment checks like the lazy pieces of bums...
