Grandy's — Restaurant in Stillwater

We have now been here 3 times recently, and overall we like it. Not quite how I remember it from years ago. But not disappointing as long as you are expecting it to be like other similar fast food chains.... It's as good as KFC and the lunch specials and Tuesday/Friday specials give it an edge on good pricing. If you go during the lunch hours Mon-Friday or stick to the 2 choices on Tuesday/Friday its under $10 per person, if you go other days/times or order stuff not included in the specials then expect a minimum of $10 per person. So far we have stuck to the specials. The way I choose to rate places is on a teir level, meaning I grade it star wise for the type of place it is and not in comparison to what I would concider a higher teir restaurant, or homemade. I.E. fast food as fast food, diners as diners, steakhouses as steakhouses, BBQ as BBQ, etc etc... I don't compare fast food to a cafe' or diner just like I don't compare a diner to a BBQ place or steakhouse. So far we have had the nugget meals, chicken fried steak meals and sandwich combos (the chicken and CF steak) the nuggets were good, fresh and juicy/tender a tad salty, but no more than KFC's original recipe, the baked beans are about what you would expect from a chain, nothing groundbreaking, think Bush's with bacon added, the green beans are the same, about what to expect from most similar places, with bacon added. The mashed potatoes and cream gravy are about what you would expect from a similar chain like golden chick, we liked both, we haven't tried the brown gravy yet, but plan to. I do wish the CF Steak meals at least came with a full scoop of mashed potatoes. They only had about half the amount the nugget meals had. The okra is good, again about what you would expect from just about anywhere, it's fried okra lol... The fries we all liked, seasoned/battered crinkle cut, cooked fresh to order and not old and mushy or stale like a lot of fast food places when we go at off hours, again we didn't get a lot of fries but that actually doesn't bother us as the meal is plenty filling as it was, the sandwiches were big, and we barely finished everything. Fries are no good left over anyway and I hate throwing away leftovers. Such a waste. Over time we will try all of the sides at least once to post about. The CF Steak was about what you would expect, although we liked it a lot better than KFC's and the CF steak sandwich was much better than Sonic's.... I will not compare it to places like Texas Roadhouse because the 2 restaurants are not at the same level. We all really liked the brioche buns used for the sandwiches, I think the sandwiches are our favorite things there so far actually, and I am looking forward to trying the catfish sandwich as its been a while since I have found a fish sandwich at a fast food place in town I actually really liked with the last being back when we had a Long John Silvers... We haven't tried the regular fried chicken yet but plan on it.... I will update this when we do... Last but not least, they serve Pepsi products!!.... For us, a huge boon as so many of our places that used to have switched to coke over the past few years, and we miss being able to order our...

Dinner dine in - meatloaf, mashed w gravy, cole slaw. Restaurant freezing cold inside. Just 80° outside. Food chilled quickly. Meatloaf arrived barely lukewarm, tasting & looking highly processed. Had to ask for rewarm. Couldn’t eat it. Prob all frozen & processed at a warehouse & just reheated locally. Rolls not even very good. Cole slaw vinegar-y. Mom’s shrimp & catfish “tasteless”. I thought catfish muddy tasting & mushy. Disgusting “food”. Had to repeat order 3x & upon clerk’s confirmation, still had it wrong. Don’t waste your money. Nothing healthy or tasty about this place. Floor sticky & had to skip 2 tables to find a “clean” one, altho restaurant was not at all busy. I wonder why… Asked for a refund as we could only eat a few bites of our meals. Manager...

Overpriced 2 people $25. Disappointed this isn't the Grandys from the 90's. Gravy all over the tray. Counter girl talked so fast about Tuesday fried steak special you had to ask her to repeat it 3 times. Food wasn't anything special, I could buy everything and cook it just like it at home for a lot less. There is no service to speak of, yet receipt breaks down tip starting at 18%. For what? Tipping for ordering my food at the counter, getting it on a dirty tray. Throwing my own trash away. Do better Grandys, or you won't last. Parking lot is horrible. Handicapped spot when you back out goes right onto the drive thru window pickup lane. That's a car crash...
