De Horno Pizzeria Y Cocina Mexicana — Restaurant in Stockbridge

I happened to stumble upon this place one day when I was out with my family and I'm really glad I did because the food here is delicious. I've had the veggie pizza (the vegetables are so fresh!) and their tacos (absolutely delicious!). They make a really good margarita too. That being said, their service definitely needs some work, probably some training. We just left the restaurant and there was one young lady working the front of the house by herself. It's a Friday night and it ultimately ended up being 5 tables dining in with to go orders coming in and out. The first issue is that both my husband and I ordered their guacamole and chips for an appetizer, margaritas to drink, and tacos for our meal. The guacamole and chips came and the waitress brought us waters to drink. The food came shortly after we finished our appetizer but we still hadn't received our margaritas. The waitress didn't mention the drinks at all so I had to ask her the status of them and she simply said they were coming, their bartender was out but they were making them. When I was almost done eating the waitress brings one margarita and puts is in front of my husband. Wrong person, it was my margarita but again she doesn't mention anything about where the second margarita is. Both my husband and I finished our meal and his drink never came, even though we are watching her deliver alcoholic drinks to other tables. So of course now we are ready to leave since we have finished eating. The trash from our appetizer was still on the table so we knew it would take forever for her to come back and check on us for the check so we walked up to the counter and told her to just forget about the other margarita and that we were ready for the check. She says "ok let me cancel the drink" and then she hands me a little device and says the total is $47. I see only a total on the device. I looked at her and said I'd like to see my check please. She prints it out and handed it to me and lo and behold, both margaritas were on the check even though we only received one and she said she took it off. I pointed it out to her and she corrected it. Listen the girl was very pleasant, I won't take that away from her but outside of that service was terrible. Some of it maybe wasn't her fault because she was the only person working the front of the house but her service was severely lacking and I can't believe she tried to charge me for a drink that ordered when we sat down and we had both an appetizer & dinner and the drink was never even made. I grew up in CA and have family that lives in the Baja. So I grew up on a certain type of Mexican food. It has been SO HARD to find carnitas on this side of the world that is cooked where the pork is tender and hints of orange/spices etc. It's usually pork cubes that are fried to death. I am also a pizza snob but it is one of my favorite meals. When I saw a place that combined both of my favorites I had to try it. Man was I impressed. Now I must tell you that the waiter says that they do everything from scratch so don't come in and expect to sit down to a pizza in 10 minutes it took about 20-30 minutes but when I say it was worth the wait I mean it. We got two different pizzas and both were to die for. The crust which tends to be just filling at most places was crisp and flavorful and the combination of flavors danced in my mouth. And the carnitas didn't disappoint. I will be trying them alone i think next time and of course, because of the raving, I need to try the Barria. As I did not have the chance to sample the food, I am unable to offer any comments on that aspect. Upon entering, I observed two young individuals behind the counter, and neither acknowledged the customers who were arriving. Rather than one attending to me and the other assisting the other customer, they both remained at the counter. My daughter and I initially sat down but then relocated due to crumbs on the chair. We then moved to another booth, which had sticky cup rings on it. Considering it was empty, one might not anticipate unclean tables/booths. I requested that it be cleaned, but I was simply told that I could move to another booth instead of being asked if I would like to. Given that I had already moved once, I decided, based on the customer service, that today was not the right time for me to try the food. While I appreciated the music level and the setup, I did not truly experience it, so I will provide an update if I decide to try it again.
