Church's Texas Chicken — Restaurant in Stockton

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. And that is exactly what happened. Shame on me.

Walked in and ordered chicken here, all spicy leg and thighs, and the worker deliberately put non-spicy chicken in my box. I should’ve spoken up and said something because I noticed that she was grabbing from the non-spicy section. The spicy section where the pieces are usually held was completely empty. I would’ve rather her tell me that they didn’t have any than to trick me and put in non-spicy chicken. I even checked my receipt and it said spicy chicken.

So I let that slide because I was hungry and needed to feed my family and at least the chicken was made the day of and decently fresh.

Now the second and last time was the last straw. I went back through drive-through the other day and ordered the same spicy leg and thighs meal. Got back home, opened the box and yes, they were all spicy pieces, but they were all refried. Re-fried. If it wasn’t refried, this batch was horribly left in the fryer for way too long.

You can tell because of the texture, how dark the skin pieces were compared to parts of the piece, the string slices of meat when you pull it apart and dryness of the chicken itself. It was horrible and so dry, it be considered white meat at that point. I threw the box out.

I can’t believe this franchise and location treats it’s customers like this.

There are other options out there, and I am going to continue to explore them. Sadly, that was the last time I will ever be going to...

This is a brand new remodel! Congratulations. Looks great. Nice and fresh and light ! Even the chicken seems better than it used to be. Not as greasy? I haven’t been here in close to a year. In the meantime they remodeled and now they have something called Texas chicken. I asked for my chicken to be hot and fresh and they gave me chicken from the new batch that just came up. I’m not a big fan of the heavy batter so I peeled off a lot of the batter which was fine. The chicken doesn’t seem quite as greasy as it used to be. For sides I had the mashed potatoes and coleslaw. Both could use some work and they could do a better job with them. The staff was very friendly and accommodating! Rosie is an awesome manager. She goes above and beyond! Kudos.

I only go here when I forget how much I don’t like this place! I wish my memory was better!

Dine in was closed tonight. Evidently they are doing a much-needed remodeling. The place was so cruddy and outdated. Maybe it’ll be better now. So I did the drive-through.

I had a coupon from their website for two can dine for $11. For that you get five pieces of greasy chicken, two hockey puck rolls, terrible paste-like mashed potatoes with nondescript gravy!

The manager "CARLOS" has the attitude of a teenage drama queen. He doesn't wear a name tag so BEWARE. He doesn't know how to count money, and was incorrect in giving me my money back after I complained. His drive thru worker "NAYELI" gave me 87 cents back when I gave her exact change. Another person that doesn't know how to count. This isn't a big deal to him he said, BUT IT SHOULD BE. How many other customers have they bamboozled out of their hard earned money? Contacting corporate to make a real complaint. He shouldn't be a manager of any business with the attitude he gave to a paying customer. I hope he sees this but I doubt it, when I drove through for a second time to let him know he didn't give me all of my money back he was texting on his flip phone while on the clock touching peoples food with no gloves.
