Sunshine Hawaiian BBQ — Restaurant in Stockton

I had been wanting and craving to visit this place for sometime now, especially after they re-opened months ago. Typically, I live in the neighborhood, and kept putting it off until January 24th. I guess it was time, and it finally happened. My craving was still there, and I suggested it to my friend who I was with, who was also hungry that we look at their menu before ordering by phone for pick-up. I pulled-up the menu on Google Maps, and on their website, and I found it wasn’t giving me enough information, or, missing some information about what exactly is included in the Combo dishes, and the photos didn’t help either. Nonetheless, anticipating a great choice and food, I called to ask questions before ordering to go. The male who answered (I forget his name) was helpful in his answers. We ordered 2 Chicken Teriyaki Combos with fountain drinks, and picked it up in 20 minutes. I was greeted by the same male who answered the phone, and the excellent service continued. He continued to be helpful with providing a hassle-free pay transaction, and courteously made sure that I was aware of the help-yourself condiments, and I left with delicious smelling Combos in-hand with his friendly goodbye. Came here once in 2019 and haven't been back since. The restaurant wasn't very busy the day I came. I came with my wife and son and ordered food. At one point I ended up needing more to drink so I stood next to the service counter. The staff saw me and completely ignored me. They kept the soft drink station behind the counter so customers have to ask if they want a refill. I held up my cup as if to say "can I have a refill please?" All I got was the cold shoulder. After I stood there for 20 minutes like a fool, they took my cup and gave me a refill. How busy did they think they were? I could count the number of customers inside on one hand. I even tipped when I payed before I received the food. Haven't been back since. The food was good but customer service was lacking that day. I guess my time sitting down eating with my family was of no value to them. Hopefully they are better now. Still not coming...

Was thinking about what I want to eat for lunch today, so I decided to have Hawaiian barbecue call to place my order as usual. Do barbecue chicken combo all rice because I don’t eat the other items that come with it. so I’m placing the order I asked the gentleman which I always do when I go there but it just so happened to be a guy today instead of one of the ladies and I always ask for 6 cups of teriyaki and I’ve never had a problem with getting them until today when the gentleman told me that he cannot give me six he could only give me three and he said is that OK and I said yes, but it really wasn’t Because I cannot eat rice plain, it has to have a gravy or broth or six teriyaki cups, which also was for my chicken as well God, if I’ll be going back there, unfortunately they have really good food.
