Went to Taco House to have dinner with my parents because Casa Flores was closed, and as soon as we get to the counter we were completely ignored for at least a good five minutes so my parents decided to go sit down and have a seat, mind you they're in their mid-70s, we already knew what we wanted before we walked in so I stayed at the counter until somebody decided to take my order. I don't know if the lady behind the counter was having a bad day or what but she looked angry and must have been hard of hearing, Idk, but she was very unpleasant, very rude and messed up our order entirely. My parents are retired and we go to restaurants daily, beings that my mom can no longer cook, so we know good customer service, we also know when to turn around and walk out, and that's what we were almost ready to do. If you look at my Google reviews you can clearly see I give all businesses and people a fair chance, I don't like negativity and my family and I are just happy, humble people greatful for what little we have, just out here supporting our community,, but this place and the people there will really work your nerves with what appears to be a semi-prejudice attitude towards non Spanish speaking Americans. Their food is only mediocre, nothing special, & I've never ever heard anyone say "Hey let's go to Taco House" lol As we were eating we heard the counter lady clearly talking about us the whole time, my Dad understands Spanish and it was so embarrassing, being ridiculed in a place we just gave our money to. We love Mexican food, and it's a shame we were treated like some type of enemy, but we get the hint.. we'll no...
Read moreMy husband and I came here for dinner, and right off the bat, it wasn't the best experience. The second we walked in, it was hot. No A/C, no fans running--just this heavy, stagnant air that made it super uncomfortable to sit down and eat. It felt like the kitchen heat was just lingering in the whole place. On top of that, the staff didn't even greet us. Not a great first impression.
Now let's talk about the food. Some of it was decent. I had a cheese and bean pupusa that was fine, and a carne asada taco (which was tiny for $3) but at least had good flavor.
My husband got a carne asada burrito. Total disappointment. It was basically just a GIANT ROLL OF RICE. Barely any meat, barely any flavor, and definitely not worth what they charged. We didn't come here to eat a $13 rice log. It felt like they were trying to cut corners and cheap out on ingredients, and we noticed it right away.
The horchata drink we got was EXTREMELY sweet. It tasted like milk and an entire bag of sugar. Do not recommend either.
For the price, the food should've been way better--and for how uncomfortable and unwelcoming the environment was, I don't see a reason to come back. Hot, awkward, and overpriced with a burrito that tasted like a filler dish....
Read moreTo be fair both my daughter and granddaughter had a good meal. HOWEVER!!! I was not so fortunate. I ordered the chicken nachos, no tomatoes and it was not great to begin with. But, I was eating it.
As I was I noticed what appeared to be hair. Thinking it may have been related to plucking the chicken.) It definitely was not. ) I took a closer look.
It was a long gray hair that both my daughter and granddaughter were able to see from across the table.
I took the dish to the counter, told them it had hair in it and rather than seek to make it right. The young gal behind the counter proceeded to dispute whether or not there was hair in it. I choose not to dispute the point with her and they choose to do nothing to correct the situation or make it right.
It was the first of a series of events that made this a very unpleasant experience. This was my first, and subsequently my last time visiting this establishment.
One last note: They offer free refills on the soda BUT charge you to get a refill for your agua fresca. So you may want to upsize your drink and save the additional cost of the refill ($2.75) $4.25 or $4.95 for...
