I really enjoyed this place. I did order my food to go so.. Yes.. southern home cooked meals. I really wanted some Lima beans and rice. I am from Charleston SC and we have this dish almost every other Sunday! I am a little peculiar about the taste and how it is prepared so I was skeptical. When I walked through the door, immediately what caught my attention was the cleanliness of the establishment. When preparing/serving food on a line, it is hard to maintain the cleanliness that is needed for project ability. I then noticed that they were serving Neckbones with Rice.š This is another southern/Charleston SC favorite and I was all for it. I knew that they served it that way for a reason, but that I could mix it all together later if I choose to with the Lima beans. I also ordered 2 pork chops.. to which later realized that I only needed 1. They are huge!
The portion sizes are Great! They didn't over do it with the rice.. and I was greatful. We shouldn't be eating too much of that anyways!š The food was seasoned to perfection. I really love when I can taste the seasoning "OF" the food and not taste the seasoning "IN" my food. It means that they allowed the seasoning to cook into what they were preparing. Nothing was Over seasoned or under prepared. The temperatures were perfect upon picking up my order. Thank you for the reminder of back home style cooking. Robert's Restaurant is definitely one of my NEW favorite places.
**They have too many dishes for me to name or place here. Please just go by there location if you are searching for good Southern cooking. You will not be disappointed!!
Every thing from chicken to fish to pork chop to oxtails. The side dishes are excellent and of abundant variety.. limas, greens, etc.. They even have a variety of sweets.. from cakes to pies to pudding. How do you go wrong with banana pudding??? Bread pudding too!!!! Peach cobbler!!!
Vegetarians will love it here...

I have lived in the area for 10 years. I've been eager to try you, as you are the closest soul food restaurant in proximity to my house. I would pass by and your establishment was always closed during the stated business hours. Today, leaving the mall, I noticed you were finally open, so I took my shot.
I attempted to order a fish plate, a 3 wing plate, and a dark meat chicken plate, through the drive thru.
I was informed you were out of many items: sweet potatoes, banana pudding, and corn. Plus, you don't even carry fried okra. I was then told that in order to order fish, I'd have to come inside.
A soul food spot is only as good as its fried chicken & mac & cheese....
Now, what is this?
I had on sunglasses and thought maybe my eyes were deceiving me... but I had already paid... I knew it was about to be bad when an older woman walked in after me (as I was waiting on my fish plate).. and asked: is this all the macaroni and cheese yall got? But I wasn't gonna make a fuss.
I get home to see this mess. I didn't even feel comfortable to eat the other sides. I made my own mashed potatoes & corn. SMH.š¤¦š½āāļøš The chicken wings were just okay 5/10, and the whiting was 7/10.
My take away for the day is that I "supported a black owned business (on my side of town)." However for the $40 spent, I don't feel I got my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe food here is decent but not exceptional, and the pricing is considerably high for what is offered. We purchased two dinner plates for a total of $32.95: one pork chop plate with two sides and one neckbones plate with two sides. In my opinion, this price is excessive for the portions and quality provided. Additionally, it seems the prices are increased slightly with each visit, perhaps to gauge customersā payment tolerance. We will not be returning to Robertās. My message to them is to not take advantage of your customers by overcharging them. For comparison, we recently visited another establishment where we ordered two similar dinners that not only tasted better but cost just $18.95 for both. While that restaurant is on the more affordable end, I wouldnāt expect to pay more than $24 for two comparable meals. Unfortunately, I donāt recall the name of that establishment at the moment, but I will update this post...
