Just a heads-up: this review is based entirely on personal taste — I know lots of folks love Nana’s, and I really wanted to be one of them. Nana’s Bakery & Pizza in Mystic is super cute — warm, minimal decor with just the right touch of rustic charm. It’s a small space inside, and since the weather wasn’t playing nice, the outdoor seating wasn’t an option during our visit. Inside, it felt a bit cramped, especially with folks ordering and picking up crowding around the few available tables. I can totally see it being a more relaxed and comfortable spot on a sunny day. Service was friendly but a bit slow — it seemed like the person working the register was still getting familiar with the menu. Not a big deal, but worth noting if you’re in a rush. We ordered the Margherita pizza with tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, olive oil, and basil — and added Seacoast Mushrooms. The sourdough crust was beautifully charred and had a nice crunch, but for us, the flavor of the crust overpowered everything else. The pizza leaned a bit dry, and overall just didn’t quite hit the mark for our taste. On a more positive note — the bread looked incredible, and the rotisserie chickens turning behind the counter were seriously tempting (even though I’m a pescatarian these days). If I find myself back in the area, I’d be interested in coming by for breakfast or trying one of their salads at lunch. Nana’s is clearly thoughtful about their ingredients and process, with a focus on organic sourdough, fermentation, and local sourcing. It just wasn’t quite the right fit for me this time.

Visited Nana’s twice to check out their breakfast and lunch offerings. Loved them for lunch - I got the tomato sandwich with bacon and my partner got a burger. We loved our choices. The BLT was flavorful and filling, best tomato I’ve had all season. My partner’s burger was delicious as well, and a lot bigger than we expected. I also got the summer berry hojicha which was amazing - it’s so difficult to find hojicha in this area and to have it done well was a pleasant surprise. The cinnamon buns are to die for - absolute must if you go! For breakfast, I wasn’t the biggest fan. I got the hashbrown sandwich and it was pretty flavorless. The hashbrown fell apart in the sandwich, and it didn’t taste like anything had any flavor. The only positive part was the bun - super light and airy. My partner got the breakfast burrito and again, little to no flavor. It was just spicy. We also got the nut latte, which was fine, but didn’t stand out much. I’d go back to try more of their pastry items and drinks, but would likely skip on breakfast again. The service was amazing though - super friendly and sweet staff. The inside was clean and we found a seat even though both days we went were pretty busy. I have dreams about that cinnamon buns too. Overall glad I checked it out and I’ll be back!

Nana's Mystic: A New England Gem Worth the Stop Nestled in the heart of Mystic, Nana's offers that quintessential small New England town charm that makes it a must-visit. On our recent stop, the experience was nothing short of amazing. We started with a tiramisu latte (half caf) that was pure indulgence—creamy, rich, and perfectly balanced. Pairing it with one of their cinnamon rolls was a match made in heaven; it was fresh, fluffy, and loaded with just the right amount of cinnamon. But the star of the show? Their Margherita pizza. Simply put, it was the best we’ve ever had. The crust was airy and crisp, the sauce was vibrant with fresh tomato flavor, and the fresh mozzarella melted like a dream. You could taste the love in every bite. Even though Nana’s was bustling, the service was excellent. The team worked seamlessly to keep everything flowing, and their warmth made the experience even better. If you're exploring Mystic or just passing through, don’t miss Nana’s. It’s a cozy spot with unforgettable eats and the charm that defines New England.

Nestled in the heart of Mystic, Nana’s is a delightful haven for breakfast aficionados and early risers alike. From the moment you step through the door at 7:00 am, you’re greeted by the warm smiles of the lovely ladies behind the counter, whose cheerful demeanor sets the perfect tone for the day ahead.

First things first, let’s talk about the cinnamon roll. Picture this: a warm, gooey delight that practically melts in your mouth with every bite. It’s the perfect breakfast appetizer, a sweet indulgence to kickstart your morning on the right note.

Now, onto the main event - the hash brown egg sandwich. This isn’t your average breakfast sandwich; it’s a masterpiece. The crispy hash browns sandwiched between fluffy eggs and perfectly toasted bread create a symphony of flavors that dance on your taste buds with every bite. It’s the kind of sandwich that makes you wonder why you ever settled for anything less.

And let’s not forget about the Cookies & Cream specialty drink - a refreshing concoction that’s as decadent as it is delicious. Sipping on this creamy delight & those cookie crumbles mmmmm is like a little slice of heaven in a cup, the perfect complement to my morning meal.

But what truly sets Nana’s apart is the atmosphere. Despite the early hour, the energy in the air is palpable, thanks to the infectious positivity of the staff. Their genuine warmth and enthusiasm make you feel right at home, whether you’re a regular or a first-time visitor. However, I must apologize for not asking the staff their names; their hospitality deserves @hookdonlife - Kudos! And a special shoutout to the chef who crafted that mouthwatering breakfast sandwich! While I’m sure there are other breakfast spots in Mystic waiting to be explored, stumbling upon Nana’s at the start of my Mystic adventures was an epic find. It’s a hidden gem that’s worth discovering, where delicious food and friendly faces await to brighten your day. I’ll definitely be back for more!
