Dropped by when looking for bookstores in the area during a trip. Really like to patron local stores over big box where possible so deliberately try and seek them out. When we entered it felt like we were intruding on conversation going on amongst staff, who were really unprofessional and gossiping loudly about other people/people they knew (and saying pretty bad comments!) as we were trying to browse the books. It felt very awkward, and we left fairly quickly. We didn’t purchase as we thought the books were overpriced - only a couple of dollars less for clearly preowned? Not likely.
Disappointed. I visit a LOT of bookstores but I wouldn’t return here.
Edit to address the owner’s comment: I stood in the store and googled the prices of a few of the books I was interested in, and decided not to purchase on the basis of what I found, so I have provided the correct information. During my trip across seven states I purchased 12 books in a variety of stores, in a variety of genres. Around half were $13 or less. I completely understand paying a little more in independent stores and I frequently do just out of support. My comment wasn’t written with...

I have been patronizing this small independent bookstore for over a year...the owner Coleen, is a friendly, honest individual, and has always treated me very well. I am in the store monthly. I see there is a very negative review here pertaining to an ebay sale...as a 15+ year seller on that platform myself, sellers are REQUIRED to ship to the address provided by the buyer.... Any changes to that must be done by the buyer. Perhaps Mr. Roberts needs to look in the mirror and take responsibility for HIS mistake. IMO, Colleen is about the last person I know that I would think would be dishonest. If there is a scammer around, it is not her.

Read moreWe’ve done a mother/daughter Mystic trip from Long Island every summer for eight years (since my daughter was three). We are both huge book nerds and always on the lookout for somewhere new. We’ve been doing the independent bookstore in the seaport every year but never ventured up the road before. We stumbled upon No Other Book Like This in a Google search and decided to check it out. We’re so glad we did and will definitely add it to our annual trip. There’s a great selection and the owner is extremely knowledgable and friendly. Her two small dogs hang out in the shop and one of them was running to greet everyone who came through the door. They are both friendly and made my daughter’s day. The shop has a cozy feel and an overall good vibe to it. Looking forward to coming back...
