Only been here 2x before the pandemic and during those times place was pretty good. Place has been hit hard during the pandemic. No longer make the house potato chips. Every time we ordered take away they were 15-30 minutes over the time they told us to be there. Even then we live less than 5 minutes away and the food is luke warm at best. Have misplaced orders or forgotten items for our orders. Did try dinning in 1 time post pandemic we were sat right at the entrance with a baby in a high chair. Felt in the way and everyone coming in and out wanted to "play" with the baby. Ordered a house wine was told it was not in stock. Ordered a root beer was told it was not in stock. However, then they brought something out that sort of tasted like root beer. I think they just mixed Dr. Pepper with something but it was not root beer tasted okay though. Wanted honey mustard sauce was told they were out of stock. Waiter was telling me how he was the only one on staff (which was true) but I did not see management, bar staff, or any of the greeting service staff helping him out. Felt bad for the guy. Place is always busy so I am sure they are not hurting for business. Maybe secure some essential ingredients spend the $$ on staffing. Heck do some real advertisement besides always posting your specials on the town Facebook group. Only this place and 1 other restaurant still do it consistently and it seems desperate. I do not know where the money is going but for a place like this I would not think I would encounter these issues. Prices are okay but with inflation I need to think wisely with my dollars. Grew up always eating at home and going out was a luxury kind of experience and still cannot shake that feeling. Not saying a place needs to be fancy but something: quality, price for quantity, cleanliness, up to date atmosphere etc.. Look at others photos (not the restaurants) does it scream quality or freshness? It looks like the same potatoes and vegetables you get at any diner. Yes you can get prime rib here. However, the cuts are nothing special and mine were always super fatty and salty. It's the only restaurant in town that offers it so unless we get some competition it is what it is. Which is probably why this place gets such high praise. This place is just a run of the mill restaurant that I am afraid does not really offer the same...
Read moreThis was the single worst dining experience I have ever had. I don't normally bother to rate less than optimal experiences but this was exceptional.
I eat out a lot (3-4 x a week) and I've been all over the world but this is the first time I've ever had to send all the food back. We ordered a burger, jalapeno poppers and french onion soup. It all seems pretty simple as in what could go wrong but it did. The burger tasted unseasoned and just had an odd consistency to me. The french onion soup was the saltiest thing I have ever been served in any restaurant ever and it had the consistency of oatmeal. I like salt a lot but this was something beyond my imagination. The jalapeno poppers were probably fine but the french onion soup just had me done with eating. The presentation was fine. It took quite a while to be served
Like many establishments they're very understaffed and that's understandable given the situation. The staff was nice and they were doing their best so they should be commended for that. I think there were some renovations but it would appear to be back of the house.
I didn't really know what to do because I've never been in this situation. We explained it to the manager who did give a discount. The manager stated they make their own burgers and he was selling a lot without any complaints as well as the poppers and soup. It's entirely possible something went wrong with our meal and only ours but it was shocking. Some of the more recent yelp reviews seem to indicate otherwise.
This place is always busy and we've been putting it off for quite a while so had some elevated expectations. The prices are on par with Boston so I don't see why you wouldn't expect the same experience. Hopefully if you choose this restaurant you have a very...
Read moreWe chose this restaurant because of its ability to serve a party of 10 and because it had ribs on the menu (as well as a variety of options for other members in our party).
The reservation system online went smoothly without a hitch despite us reserving the table after business hours. We received confirmation of our reservation shortly after submitting the request.
When we arrived to the restaurant, we were quickly shown to our table and greeted by our waiter. The service overall was average - the food took about 25-30 minutes to arrive, which was great - the check took us nearly 30 minutes to get after our meal was finished and the plates were cleared. The delay was understandable since little league players had since swarmed and it seemed our waiter was responsible for most of the 30+ guests by himself. Even so, we would have preferred faster service on the tail end.
Now, onto the food itself. The steak was really good for $26 (comes with two sides), it wasn't fatty or gristly, and cooked to perfection as ordered. The pork chop was moist, flavorful and an absolute unit! However, the chicken dishes were all dry (tenders, hot chicken sandwich, and marsala) and unimpressive. The ribs were st Louis style and were tender.
I would order the steak again but as takeout since the interior gives off major cafeteria vibes and was too loud/echoey...
