Look, I was skeptical. Good Mexican food in Stow, OH? Yeah, unlikely.
But I was wrong. I was so wrong. Pacho & Lefty's is, frankly, some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. It beats out big-city food on the East Coast & even in Texas. Pancho & Lefty's knows Mexican food. Theirs is authentic - & delicious.
I went with the tacos - three for just $10, including rice & beans on the side - & couldn't decide which to choose. They all sounded good, but then again, if done incorrectly, they all could've been bad. I've had some not-so-good tacos in my time. But I settled on two pork al pastor tacos (pork with pineapple) & one chorizo, & I hoped for the best.
I needn't have worried. Truly, these are the best tacos I think I've ever had, & I eat/make a lot of tacos. They were juicy & flavorful, not greasy, & the corn tortillas were thick & soft, but sturdy enough to keep from falling apart when I picked them up. Needless to say, I inhaled them.
Don't eat too much of the chips & salsa, tempting though it may be (& delicious though they are). You're going to want to leave plenty of room for your main course! You're almost guaranteed to leave...
Read moreMargaritas are weak, they put like a half shot in and use bottom shelf tequila and also flavor syrup for all the flavors. My buddies steak burrito was made with terayaki sauce...this isn't Japanese food. My other buddie had chicken taquitos and the ends we're burnt, not only that he burned his hands on just trying to tear them in half to cool them. Needles to say he didn't eat more than one and felt I'll afterwards. Now my last buddy had a shrimp quesadilla and you can tell they we're frozen and not fresh. The quacamole tasted off, like it just came out of a tub straight out of the fridge. The salsa and queso are store bought and not homemade. And the tortilla chips are the store bought kind I'm the white bag, they even put a cheap taco seasoning on them to try and fancy it. Overall the food was bland or made wrong and just a bad experience. Casa del Rio in Wadsworth is real authentic Mexican, plus they make awesome margaritas that will basically get ya tipsy half way through. Go there instead of this place. They really need to revamp how they cook things at Pancho's and Lefty's, maybe Gordon Ramsey...
Read moreThis is def a busy place. We came on a weekday, at dinner time and there was a line out the door, but can’t complain because we came at peak times. They got us in fairly fast though, within 15 min. Provided chips and salsa like most restaurants. Chips had a seasoning we didn’t think tasted good but salsa was alright. Food came quickly, but wasn’t great in my opinion. I’ve had way better tortas before and maybe I could’ve gotten something else, but what can I say? I had to try it. The bread was very hard, not good and the inside didn’t have the best flavor and kinda mushy. My friends didn’t think their food was horrible, but they said they’ve had better and said it tasted like it was just seasoned with salt. Had a house marg and a blackberry marg both semi-frozen which were okay. Definitely put enough tequila in it which I appreciate, but the taste wasn’t all that great. Service was good though and we were checked on often. Place wasn’t for us...
