We were really looking forward to trying this restaurant, so we made a reservation for my husband’s birthday. Sad to say, we were very disappointed. The service was lackluster. We were not asked if it was our first time, the menu was not explained, the server seemed rushed and didn’t come back much to check on us. To add insult to injury, after we had ordered the bananas foster for a birthday dessert, which by the way was a mess (see photo, what flambé?), the server dropped the check off at our table before we had even started on dessert (I didn’t know we were at a diner???). The food was lackluster except for the Asiago crusted fish which was the highlight of the meal. My husband had really looked forward to the pistachio crusted fish, but it was bland and the rice was tasteless. We were not told he could’ve substituted the rice for another side. We didn’t see any managers around the entire time we were there. I’m sorry to say that as much as we were hoping for a great experience, that was not the case. 6/2/24 update: emailed the restaurant on 6/25 as per their request. No communication as of yet.

This quaint little restaurant & bar located in historical downtown Stuart offers comfortable booths, tall table top seating and a sit down bar. The customer service was above expectations. Our server, John, was friendly, courteous and on point. A great variety of cocktails, wines and beers are available. The food was excellent, high prices but worth it. We started with bruschetta which was beyond expectations. I enjoyed the stuffed shrimp which was superb. The shrimps were juicy and firm and stuffed with crab. The dish included rice du jour. For dessert we enjoyed a nice slice a key lime pie which had a nice crunchy graham cracker crust, and tangy meringue. A great place for a special date night or occasion.

We went here for our anniversary dinner and were very glad with all of our choices. The Carribean Conch Cakes were excellent and the drizzled sauce is a recipe I wish I could get my hands on. The Sautéed Sea Scallops were perfect; I can't imagine them being better. The corn salsa and rice paired wonderfully and were a refreshing match. As excellent as everything else was, the Snapper Assiago may have been the best thing on the menu with a very creamy and savory mashed potatoes and a light cheese coating for the fresh snapper. This place was the best choice for our anniversary celebration.

We were greeted at the door by the hostess asking us what we want. Obviously we were there to dine. As a party of 4 adults and 2 children . We finally got our table, the waitress came over and took our drink order. With that being said we wanted to get the kids fed right away and ordered milk and meals for the children (they don't have a kids menu), The milk came out, the grand-daughter took one drink of it and spit it out on the table. It was a sour. When the waitress returned later with our drinks and asked if there was anything else she could do for us, we told her about the milk being sour and she said she was sorry (no other apologies) nothing else was offered.. She took our appetizer order and left our table. We didn't see her again for another 35 minutes. Keep in mind we still have not received an appetizer yet. She came out and said oh you haven't got your appetizer and we said no we have not by this time 45 minutes have passed and the kids meals just hit the table. We didn't see her back again for another 15 minutes. We ask where the appetizers are and she said the kitchen was backed up??? When she returned with one of the two appetizers, mind you the one appetizer was a very small portion for the price and just enough for one person. we had also ordered more cocktails at the time of ordering appeitzers and did not receive our drinks. She still had not taken our dinner order, I then asked for the check and left.. Not one manager came over to us , as if no one could care , we'll never go back. I believe the 5 star ratings are old because there is no way they are a 5 star restaurant, they're lucky I couldn't rate it...

Don't let the 4-stars I gave the food sway you. I happen to have vast restaurant experience including Michelin-starred affairs so I can't, with respect to those whose lives revolve around the happenings of the greatest chefs on earth won't allow me, but this joint is the whatever I always go to when researching the surrounding areas' restaurants, all (except for maybe 2) I have been to. I'm a bar guy. This bar area is so perfect, especially for folks like me who came up a few years ago. The music, actually listenable in every way both technically and spiritually, always seems to be just what I need or want. The bar staff, (possibly gender discriminatory toward women (oh what women) except for some guy that happens in occasionally (hi Jim)), is just so damn personable. I would naturally be suspicious, except the b**s can actually bartend...You have to succumb. Every morsel of food I have eaten there (Happy Hour to dinner styles) has always impressed me. I don't expect that level of sophistication and execution that delivers meals so correct. I am a cynic. I have opened 21 restaurants and/or nightclubs across this vacant lot of a country (that's not the most of it), so I don't really expect much anywhere. The Black Marlin delivers for real. I hate writing this because I don't want it to be too crowded, especially around 11 PM when Nathalie thinks she's winding down and a bunch of leaves blow in on the wind, but I would be doing the industry a disservice if I didn't put out what I feel. Thank you Black Marlin, for all the times I have already spent, and all the times I know I'll spend in the...

Great experience here! Our family of 5 arrived in Stuart on Saturday evening and we wanted to start our vacation with some great seafood. Most of the places in Stuart were 1-2 hour waits for us, 1 even said they could not seat us at all. When I walked in Black Marlin (a little desperate to find something) I was greeted warmly but told the wait would be at least 1 hour. We walked out, but the hostess found us about 100 ft down the sidewalk and offered a wait at the bar because she thought a table might come available sooner. We quickly went back in and when my wife and daughters caught up the hostess informed us our minor daughters could not be in the bar area, so they seated us at a table immediately. It was my fault for not telling them I had teen daughters, but they insisted on making us feel welcome and proceeded to serve us a wonderful meal. I really enjoyed the jerked swordfish, my wife and one daughter split the snapper and my 2 non-seafood eaters were pleased with the grouper fingers (11 yr old daughter) and the kitchen made a special off-menu preparation of bam-bam chicken (instead of shrimp) for my 19 year old. We were very pleased with the food, but even more with the service and can-do attitude...
