Historic Stuart, FL. Great coffee, they roast their own beans; ordered at a kiosk; cappuccino was given in a large to-go cup with no coffee art as in photos although others in the shop received mugs; no greeting although others were greeted; beautiful new space; bathroom doors were marked “Manatees” and “Mermaids”; Siri made it difficult to find. Great croissant.
A Googan is, apparently, someone who disobeys boating rules and makes sailing dangerous for others. There’s a paragraph defining the word that sounds like a rant. I wondered why the owner named the shop The Googan.
Guests included lots of locals; children; a couple fur babies; and someone reading a book. It’s a great coffee shop when guests can read accompanied by coffee, that’s bliss. This was a sweet foggy morning, two days after Thanksgiving. The place was calm. I loved the space.
Steve said it felt a little narrow but the rustic feel and expensive wood tables were “really, really nice.” I didn’t think the space was narrow. I liked the high ceilings; murals of fish swimming in schools; the unique logo of an octopus wrapping a boat in its tentacles; the large screen with a video of saltwater fish; and the location of the shop.
I didn’t like ordering at a kiosk. Siri led us to the entrance where the kiosk is the first thing you see at the counter. As I said there was no greeting from the three baristas. Steve and I stood there awhile trying to figure out what we wanted and probably ordered less than we would have if we’d ordered at the other end.
A couple came in through the other entrance and ordered at the other end. If it’s your first time I recommend ordering from the baristas. The menu is more extensive than is shown on the kiosk.
There are three seating areas, including...
Read moreI have never written a review. I am old and just always did things the old fashioned way- either in person or calling to express my gratitude….in this case and in this day we live in, I felt it within my heart to write this review… I had misplaced my credit card and realized later I left it at Googans Downtown Stuart. I called that evening after store hours. Jim answered and he said to call the store in the morning which I did to see if the card was there. When I called Jim answered and said sure enough my credit card was there. He was understanding and kind from the get go.didn’t make me feel like just another customer. Far from it. I told him I would be right over to pick it up and he asked me what I drink and would have it waiting! And then he said it’s on the house! Just because! I could not thank him enough- Beyond the fact that I was able to retrieve my credit card, what He said to me said it all- that the coffee was the secondary experience at his locations- first is the neighborhood friendly atmosphere as he put in his own words…I was overwhelmed and teared up- KINDNESS- He even helped me adjust me doggies collar! He is a true gem- and it shows by the employees that work there.. they definitely follow his lead. Kind, professional. Go out of their way to be accommodating. Even with my doggie! The coffee is amazing as well- the Shakerato is pleasantly addicting! Bless you all wonderful kind people from the bottom of my heart! Can’t...
Read moreI walked in to a totally different and newly remodeled Cafe. The space itself has a great rustic, modern vibe. The bathroom had a heated toilet seat that looked out of the Jetsons. I ordered a caramel latte with coconut milk and veggie burrito. The latte was bland. No caramel taste whatsoever. I don't like sweet but I like to taste the espresso and hint of caramel. The veggie burrito unfortunately was basically a potato burrito sprinkled with crumbs that resembled eggs. No real veggies to speak of. Maybe I should have had a...
