I ordered the veggie omelet and hashbrowns. The veggies weren't fresh at all, canned mushrooms, canned or frozen tomatoes (pale and mushy), canned or frozen green peppers (also pale and mushy), slimy, translucent onions. The eggs were stretched thin and greasy. It was more like a burrito than an omelet. It was big though. My hashbrowns came out undercooked and tasteless. I asked for them to be cooked more, and they happily obliged. The service was actually exceptional, but the food didn't match. The place is also quite run down, and looks like it could use a deep clean and a makeover. The table I sat at had previously been duct taped and the tape has since come loose, so there's a piece of the edge just kind of hanging off. I also ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and chips to take home for my son. I was not impressed at all when I opened the box to look at it. The chicken looks very white and unseasoned. Seems like they use the cheapest, lowest quality ingredients they can. It wasn't the worst thing I've ever had from a restaurant; I did finish my omelet , but I...
Read moreTo start off, I am a very reasonable person. I try to see things positively. We arrived there around 11:45 possibly earlier. Our food took an hour if not more to arrive. Granted the place was busy not packed but it was reasonably busy. My brother got French toast and sausage links, his favorite breakfast meal. He said that they were average at most. My other brother got pancakes and a meat lover skillet. I tried his pancake and it was good. He also said his skillet was below average. We did also hear that his skillet was in the microwave since it came out later, not sure why it would need microwaved. I also got a pancake and biscuits and gravy just to try. My pancake was not fully done with mix in the middle and other areas. As I pointed it out, the other waiter said “Yeah that is really undercooked, I wouldn’t eat that either!” The biscuits and gravy were alright. They did take off the pancake off the meal and the waiter was nice and sweet. Was hopeful since it’s a small business and we wanted to support but I have...
Read moreHonestly disappointed in what this place has become. I was a regular here when it was Chicago Road Diner 7 years ago when i left. Every year I would come back on vacation and look forward to eating breakfast here. Now that I moved back I heard some mixed reviews for the new Granbys. I know several ex-regulars that don't eat there anymore and the ones that do only eat there because they don't want to leave town.
What I've experienced the few times I've given them a chance was you get less portion for more of a cost than before,
The staff Is slow, unorganized, and rude. Example, I made a comment on My to go order being 15 minutes late when they weren't even busy I got told to "go get my food somewhere else then"
I personally won't be eating here again unless there's new owners and staff
If you're an out of towner save yourself the time and go to Howe Restaurant or Dads in...
