Went here on a whim with family because the Hibachi nearby had a 2 hour wait without reservations.
The ambiance is pretty great. It's a fun Mexican cantina look and feel. I think as we were walking in some of the staff may have been singing at a table. Looked pretty fun.
The service was probably some of the best I've experienced anywhere. The place was busy but the wait staff were quick, courteous, had excellent attitudes and that made the experience that much better. One gentleman asked if we wanted guacamole made at our table and after taking our preferences, set about crafting it with near surgical precision, and with a smile.
The drinks were great. I had the cantarito it was served in a clay jar, rimmed with tajin and it was really good. I just had one because I was driving, but it was so good, I could have had 4 without thinking.
The food was spot on, flavor-wise. Rice and beans were acceptable. I had the Burrito Mexicano, and the meat was REALLY tasty, though the amount of meat left me wanting for more, and there was maybe too much lettuce and diced tomato on the plate. I was the outlier, though, as everyone else had large portions; My sister took home leftovers. Based on my experience and everyone elses with us, I'd wager everything they serve would be acceptable to above average in taste. Side note: I had a bite of shrimp off my sister's plate. Cooked perfectly. Good job. Side, Side note: The burritos were rolled like tacos and not wrapped like burritos. Wierd.
I have one issue, however. The salsas were not hot. We had a tomato based salsa with our chips and the flavor was great, but there was no heat. We asked for a hot salsa and they gave us a very tasty tomatillo based salsa, which just had a hint of heat. A bit disappointing, but the salsas DID have great flavor. I suggest bringing some jalapenos or serranos in your pocket if you dine here. I know I will,...
Read moreMy friend and I came in last night to celebrate National Margarita Day. We arrived around 7 pm and ordered our margaritas and food. We are only able to see each other around once a month due to schedules. The website and location themselves stated they were opened until 9 pm. The service was okay, he checked on us once or twice but wasn't very friendly. The young man making table side guacamole seemed absolutely exhausted but opened up with a smile when we started messing with him. We got our food which was pretty decent shortly after. But my friends food that came was not even close to what she ordered. She is non-confrentational so she did not say anything and ate it anyways... At 8:20 they shut off half the dining room lights and shut all the music off. We were kinda taken back with the awkward silence if we were talking but we were like whatever. At 8:40 they shut off the TV right next to us and the employees stared at us from their "waiting area" with their jackets on making it very obvious they wanted to leave. Someone from the kitchen area screamed "Go home!". We found this so incredibly rude... We felt super uncomfortable as we were still munching on our food. We packed up quickly and left... We will not return as this is not a way to treat your customers... Don't get me wrong, I waitressed for a long time myself before coming into my career and there was times I was just ready to go home myself. But I would never make a guest feel like we did where we were practically pushed out the door. When we left the were on our tails, even pulling the door shut and locking it as we stepped out. All lights shutting off right after that. We will not return and will definitely be letting our family and...
Read moreFirst and last time there with my wife was today. First we were served a frozen vat of salsa with chips. We literally could not pour it out for a few minutes. When it thawed enough to pour out some mystery item came out of the salsa and it also had a standing 1/8 inch of water standing in the dipping tray. Neither of us ate it. I got a chicken burrito with rice and beans and for some reason 1/3 of my plate had grease all over it. Chicken, rice, and beans are not greasy so the mystery is truly a mystery. The wife got enchiladas to which none of these inside was even remotely close to melted. We were going to just leave it at that and not say anything and just never come back. It is very apparent from the start to finish they do not cook fresh food. Frozen salsa, melted cheese on top and not inside are signs of microwaving. However, to top everything off the waiter notices the lack of quality and even says he’s sorry (remember we never even complained to them) because he sees how bad everything was. He then gave us our bill. Nothing even discounted after he acknowledged the poor food we received. It wasn’t cheap either, as our bill was around $40 for two people. Not even deserving of one star. Terrible. I wish I had taken pictures to show you...
