We came here with a large party, and while the environment was beautiful, clean, and inviting, the food was honestly a huge letdown. Our waitress, Bailey, was incredibly sweet and helpful throughout the night, and the other young lady helping serve our food was also very kind. That said, the older hostess who briefly walked in gave off a bit of a cold, “principal walking into the classroom” kind of vibe—almost like we weren’t truly welcomed.
Now onto the food… We ordered a wide variety of dishes, and I really wanted to like the food, but most of it was just bland and under-seasoned. Here’s the breakdown:
• Pork belly entrée – The pork was overcooked and dry, the kimchi completely overpowered the dish, and the scallop had a strange aftertaste. • Crab dip – Edible and decent, but not served hot, just warm-ish. • She crab soup – Probably the highlight of the night; everyone who tried it enjoyed it. • Lobster mac & cheese – Looked good, but one person finished it and the other couldn’t. They both said it was “just okay.” • Seafood pasta (x4) – Three out of four people finished theirs. It actually came out hot (a rare win), but still underwhelming and lacking in flavor. • Scallops & risotto (x2) – I tried the Parmesan risotto expecting at least some natural saltiness from the cheese, but it was surprisingly flat and tasteless. The scallops, again, had that odd aftertaste and zero flavor. • Wagyu steak entrée (x2) – No sear, no seasoning. One was overcooked, which I could’ve dealt with, but it was just… plain. The asparagus was probably the best-prepared part of that plate—cooked perfectly with a nice bite. The mushrooms added an odd texture, and the black Yukon purée didn’t bring anything special to the table—just another bland component.
To be fair, I understand that when serving a large party, it’s customary to bring all the food out at once. But that might be working against them here. They should consider asking tables if they’d prefer for food to be brought out as it’s finished, especially since hot food can often mask how underseasoned something really is. The issue wasn’t just temperature—it was taste. If the food had come out piping hot, maybe it wouldn’t have made it “great,” but it at least could’ve made some of it more edible.
Drinks were the saving grace. They were well-balanced, creative, and delicious. That, along with the overall vibe, is probably what’s keeping this place alive. But for the prices? The food should absolutely be better. If I ever came back, it would only be for a drink and maybe the crab dip—but even then, I wouldn’t go...
Read moreThis restaurant was definitely a great pic, however it was the most embarrassing ever and I want to thank Carolyn for dealing with us. We were not loud already obnoxious out of character or anything of that nature I don't want to put the person's business out there however I would come another time with another group of people or by myself maybe.
I ordered that the seafood pasta which was divine. The flavors bounced off my taste buds like none other although I was kind of greedy mentally the portion was definitely great start especially being that we had an appetizer. I also asked for red pepper flakes and a little extra cheese and my wish was granted I greatly appreciate the Speedy service.
Although CarolIne was definitely doing her job to make sure everything was cool at our table and that everybody was safe to drive and all that jazz. I really appreciate her conversation her upbeat spirit. I appreciate her attentiveness although she tried to be discreet with it I knew exactly who was going on, because I was fussing at the person before we even enter the restaurant and I'm a pretty observant person. I appreciate her kindness and her willingness to be at our service she was great.
The drinks were delicious they weren't too strong but if you're looking for a stronger what have you go to a lounge or something but they were very classy and I think perfectly proportion. Sorry I don't remember the name of the drink I had but it was really tasty and I had pineapple in it. LOL
The crab dip was really really good as well I wanted to order something to go but I was already frustrated come to end of our dinner so I just told myself I'll just have to come back if I really want more we also got the I think it's called the firecracker shrimp and that was very tasty as well and something I will order again altas
Overall The Establishment was great it was clean the temperature was fine. I would probably come back again with some business partners for a lunch or dinner.
**Also this establishment does automatic gratuity that comes out automatically so if you don't like that I wouldn't come here. I sure hope this establishment is treating and paying their employees well, in addition, to also taking automatic gratuity. My meal was over a hundred bucks and my gratuity was $17. I'm thankful that Caroline was worth $17 or else I would have called the manager. But she was worth $17 so I wouldn't make a big...
Read moreDecided to try their half-off tasting menu special, and frankly, it wasn’t worth it. While the ambiance and decor in the speakeasy is great, the main dining room screams strip mall seafood restaurant. The open kitchen was nice though.
We came on a Sunday, and were among two other parties, so safe to say, it wasn’t busy. The tasting started off with the Tuna Tartar (Yellowfin Tuna | Seaweed Salad | Sriracha Ice Cream | Sesame Oil Powder | Spring Roll Crunch). Based off how this dish was presented, I had low expectations for the rest. The sriracha ice cream was completely melted (not just softened). The server was apologetic about it and said it was because they had to keep taking it out of the freezer, but as someone who’s worked in both the food service and customer service industry, I would never have served that. They should’ve either pivoted or just served it without. Although the tuna was good, the melted ice cream made the entire dish sweet and unpleasant. Also, they used wonton strips rather than spring rolls, which makes more sense but it was just thrown on top along with heavy dashes of salt.
Course 2 was a crab cake which was honestly delicious. It came piping hot and generously portioned. If I were to recommend anything, it’d be that.
Course 3 was seared scallop with risotto. They were cooked well but overly salty. I did mention it to the server to which she replied that she overheard the cooks talking about the coarseness of the salt so maybe that was the reason.. That left me a bit dumbfounded since their was acknowledgement that it was over salted but no action to mitigate it.
Course 4 was wagyu bistro steak and overall, it was fine. I understand it’s not Japanese wagyu but frankly, I’ve had better skirt steak. It wasn’t cooked evenly, but the mash and mushrooms were good. The Demi glacé didn’t really add anything to it.
The last course was supposed to have the flavor profile of an almond joy, but the ice cream was more vanilla than coconut, the chocolate drizzle tasted artificial, and the flourless chocolate cake could’ve benefited from more chocolate.
They also don’t advise that theirs an automatic 20% gratuity so keep that in mind. That may be why they’re less inclined to ensure you enjoy your meal.
All this to say - it’s worth a visit to the speakeasy (they have a 2 drink per person minimum), and try...
