Koi Sushi & Hibachi — Restaurant in Suffolk

I would say without a doubt, that this is the best out of the 15 or so Japanese restaurants we've been to around the area.

-The staff are happy and helpful. -The booth seating was quite novel in the way it appeared to be a floor level table with the surrounding bench and seat cushions. -Our soups were created from actual fresh ingredients, they were full of flavor despite lacking the intense amount of salt and/or pepper that lesser places flood their soups with to imitate flavor. -The Hibachi steak we ordered came exactly medium-rare as ordered. The vegetables were delicious, as was the rice. The white sauce was thick enough to stick to the meat and provided a nice flavor. The amount of steak we received was a pleasant surprise, plenty for two to share one plate. -Despite ordering 30 minutes or so before closing, we received an exceptional meal without even the hint of a complaint from the staff as we left 15 minutes after closing. I wanted to give zero stars but the review process doesn’t allow that. This was the worst experience I’ve ever had at a hibachi restaurant. The worst in every manner. Even during a pandemic, people do not take the proper precautions to ensure a sanitary environment. Raw food on trays with no liners and they were too relaxed with handling food with there hands. The 2 people making the sushi up front wore gloves but the individual working the grill did not. He was touching the food with this hands and lacked personality. I frequent hibachi grills at least twice a week and this one is not a true representation of what a hibachi grill is. The ambiance was horrible. 5 people and three were in my party. Red flag. I have never felt compelled to leave a review, positive or negative, for a restaurant, but this establishment has lost customers for life after this evening. We placed our takeout order at 5:15pm and were told the order would be ready in an hour. My wife and son arrived to pickup the order and were told it would be only a few minutes more. At 7:15, two hours after the order was placed and after waiting in the restaurant an hour after the order was supposed to be ready, we were told they hadn't started it yet.
