Came here with a friend to escape from our busy lives for a little bit. The restaurant itself is very nice, very clean and very open. They had live music playing, which played into a good vibe overall. People were outside enjoying themselves. I also noticed a dog or two, so yes it's dog friendly.
We ordered our food at the bar and a couple of drinks. I had the pineapple RX which was a little too much on the sour side for my tastes. The unfortunate part of what earned them three stars is our food coming out in "to-go" containers and the amount of food you get for the price paid. The shrimp and grits were $18..maybe $19. It came in a small container. I was pretty disappointed. I think the taste was pretty good but the portion size is severely lacking. I have been to other local establishments where the shrimp and grits are around that price and I get more grits and more shrimp. At least give me more grits!
Also confused on whether we should be cleaning up our own table when we were done or wait on the server. We did see trash cans so that was our clue...I think? Very confused about that.
The mediterranean platter was good, the hummus was really good. This was an appetizer that came in a bigger plastic container than my main appetizer, which doesn't make sense to me lol. The drinks also come in plastic cups. So that good vibe now is thrown off when you are using plastic utensils and containers. It "cheapens" the experience with the exception that the prices are still just as high.
Not sure what the reasoning is. We went across the way to another bar when this place closed and they were using real glasses...even as they closed for the night.
Also we wanted to use the fire pits. Either they didnt work or they have some way of turning them off at a central control panel. Either way, no fire pit for us :(.
I do want to come back and give them another chance, because I do see the potential in this place. It's going to be a...
Read moreThe place itself is beautiful, and has plenty of unique seating but it has much to improve on especially at the prices. The wait staff was wonderful. The specialty cocktails were great and we're presented beautifully however, the pricey food was given to us in plastic containers, with plastic silverware, and were small portions. The hummus was just pretty much spread over the bottom of a plastic container with a few pitas. My friend's shrimp and grits was very small. The pizza was not great, even though was highly recommend by the staff. It would probably be one of my least favorite meals I've had in a long time. The crust was crackery/dry and there was barely any sauce or cheese. Drinks were presented in glasses but wine was given in a plastic cup. If you charge that much for food and drinks, it should be presented well. There was also a hidden 3% charge on my receipt. Overall, it was meh. Decent People next door has much better food and drinks presentation, bigger portions, and better prices. I'd be willing to try it again someday but have switched our next bookclub over...
Read moreWe have been here about 4 times since they have opened. Each time we haven't had to wait too long for a table and the food has been decent, there have been a few food items we haven't cared for but more has been pretty good. where they fall short is their turn around time for empty, dirty tables. each time we have been, some dirty tables sit for 10-30 minutes before being cleaned, even when there is a line of people waiting to be sat. while I understand being understaffed (I have worked in very busy restaurants as well. no lie, today, I watched 6 servers pass by a large, empty table full of dirty plates no less than 20 times in 30 minutes with not one employee picking up a single dish while having empty hands). I could not stand to keep watching it, I myself bussed the table, stacking plates and putting trash in a pile because I was embarrassed for the restaurant. I think teamwork needs to worked on, doesn't matter whose table or section it is, if hands are empty, grab something. hopefully this is just taken as constructive criticism as we do...
