Tried Five Star again after giving it about a year break. First time was disappointing but so many people told us to give it another shot. Bottom line, price was decent but the food was boring and tasteless. We had the General Tso's chicken and Pad Thai and both dishes came out watery. Even the rice was plain, despite being fried rice. Wouldn't recommend either. Service was okay, but barely existent. Water wasn't refilled at all and no check in on how the food was during the entire meal, until the check was dropped. The experience was not positive and we won't be giving it another chance.

Stopped in for lunch. I had the two sushi roll lunch special. One spicy salmon roll and one spicy tuna roll. They both had the same look and taste. It was spicy, but there was no flavor of salmon or tuna detected. Service was fast, friendly and very attentive. I’ll give it another try in the future, but switch to cooked Food. I’ve been eating sushi for almost 40 years. And it was just too bland for me today. Too much crunch filling. It is a sitdown Chinese/Japanese restaurant. Plenty of room. Decor is fine. Location is very convenient.

Traveling and was looking for a place to eat & was thinking fast food to keep on driving and saw this place. Was worth the stop. We were kindly greeted and seated. Me yes given and brought drinks. Also brought out some crispy wonton and a dipping sauce. Portion sizes were perfect for us! VERY HOT (temperature wise) when they brought it out! Good flavor! To me a bit too sweet. But better than many places. Building is a bit older & could use a bit of updating. But very nice service & food. Would return.

Five Star has been demoted to One Star.

My family hasn’t been to Five Star in quite some time and decided to go on December 23rd. We arrived at 7PM. We were sat down within 5 minutes and given some tea and menus. After that, it took 30 minutes before anyone took our order. It took another 50 minutes (1 hour and 20 minutes total) before I received my General Tso’s Chicken.

It was also pretty clear they were short on staff. I saw a customer who couldn’t get a booth because they were unable to bus any of the tables. Overall, I think the food quality is still there and the service was still friendly, but it doesn’t warrant an hour-plus wait time for food.

I think the biggest issue, though, was the amount of take-out/grub hub/door dash customers I saw. It seems we’re at a point in time where Five Star (if not more restaurants) is having a hard time serving both the delivery market and in-house patrons. It was as if all the restaurant guests took the back burner to the take-out/delivery orders.

Long story short: If you don’t to feel vastly under prioritized, I’d say skip Five...

I wasn't expecting much from a small local place, but this so exceeded my expectations. We ordered sushi, and based on experiences at other local places, my husband and I ordered a regular roll and a special roll each. I can truly say I would have been satisfied with one. The rolls were huge!!! And, it wasn't just rice and filler - the actual fish pieces were adjusted to fit the larger rolls. Everything tasted fresh and we were able to see the chef preparing our rolls, so I can say we watched him slice the mango fresh for the top of my husband's mango passion roll. I apologize to anyone reading this that prefers pictures, I was hungry and dove in before thinking of taking one. Maybe on my next visit! Anyway, if you're in West Hazleton, I'd recommend giving...

Ever since new owner took over the quality of the cooked dishes are amazing. The Shashimi Yellowtail Tuna, outstanding. Their fish and rolls, they beat Hanna Shushi hands down. The atmosphere is great, we sit in the same spot every time, and our waiter Freddie, is the BEST! The man is absolutely amazing, and will do everything to give you absolute best services. Very polite person also. ASK FOR FREDDIE, and please tip him accordingly! The best waiter we have had over the past 3 years dining out. The house cooks, they always come through and I've never been disappointed. If you haven't had it in a while, you owe it to yourself to visit Freddie and the crew of Top Five Stars. Thank you all for your outstanding services. Sincerely. ...
