My husband and I went there for the first time this past week. We did have a nice waitress who was helpful, although she was relatively busy, and that always makes for a pleasant dining experience. My husband got the grilled pork chops with steamed broccoli 🄦 and green beans. He liked the pork chops and said they had a good flavor, he also really enjoyed their green beans. He did not like their broccoli, he said that it was mushy. He would probably give his pork chops and green beans a four for his overall rating. I got the chopped steak with grilled onions, baked sweet potato, and green beans. I thought my chop steak was a very strong three, it’s hard to really enjoy one when I go out because my husband is such a great cook when it comes to things like that. I did like the baked sweet potato and wish I had gotten the toasted marshmallows with it, but I loved the honey butter that it came with and it was soft and baked well. I was not a big fan of the green beans, but I’m usually not that big of a fan of green beans and they really have to be something special for me to like them. We got 1 pound of boiled shrimp for an appetizer and I was so amazed at how many shrimp šŸ¤ were brought out on the plate, that was surely a plentiful appetizer. I really didn’t like them that much, I didn’t care for the spices, there seem to be a lot associated with them and they were a little tough to me, but if you’re in the mood for boiled shrimp šŸ¤ , it’s really a BIG plate of them. It seems to be a popular place in town and several people seem to go there. They did serve us honey šŸÆ butter 🧈 with rolls and we thought thd honey butter was delicious. I would probably give them about a 3 1/2 and my husband would give them about a four. There are some things that we might order again and some things that we definitely wouldn’t order again.

We arrived at almost noon on a Saturday, its seating was almost full inside (there is outdoor seating but it was going to be 100* that day so no thank you) Stayed pretty busy the whole time we were there. Love their location on the Sulphur Springs courthouse square. Wait staff was nice and attentive. Lots of fried and starchy foods on menu but was happy they had a great salad bar (I ordered as an additional side to my meal) They start you off with rolls and a yummy cinnamon butter. I ordered country fried chicken (4 oz, gravy on the side) fries and broccoli. My hub had fried butterfly shrimp, hush puppies (they are long & skinny vs round) and fries. Honestly, after being told and reading other reviews about food being too salty and too greasy, (because we don't eat my fried or overly salty foods) we didn't encounter that at all. My chicken was probably the best I've ever had! It had a light but crisp breading, not greasy and the meat was super moist & tender inside. Fries were hand cut and good. Since I'd had a salad, I gave my broccoli to my hub. Even with a 4oz chicken, I was stuffed. We took most of both of our orders of fries home. Altho this place has a bar, tvs and digital jukebox, I expected it to loud and noisy when it was full, but it wasn't. ... We'd definitely come back again but this is a true comfort food place so we probably wouldn't be back for several months.

This is a good local choice for comfort food and tasty home-style favorites. My party enjoyed the lunch special meatloaf (delicious), the fresh well-stocked salad bar, and the excellent sides: mashed potatoes with gravy, fired okra, & broccoli. There’s a decent beer selection and several other liquor options for diners so inclined. Don’t be fooled (like we were) by the sign on the door that says, ā€œNo Public Restroom.ā€ After ducking out of the place briefly to use the public toilets in the park across the street, we were told by our server that they did indeed have one hidden around the corner in the kitchen. Perhaps the sign would have been better worded, ā€œRestroom for Customers Only.ā€ I guess I’m not very smart; I should have asked.

I can honestly say, that in the 11 years that my wife and I have been together, we've only experienced three restaurants with the extreme distaste that we experienced this evening at Corner Grub House. We have wonderful children when we go out to eat, so we don't expect the sun, moon & stars with our meal however, I do expect the staff to respect my wife, the hors d'oeuvre that I see on each other table to be on my table (unless they're out, in which case I expect to be told not to expect them), I expect to not have to retrieve napkins for our own table because our server failed to bring them, I expect to not have to retrieve our own condiments from other surrounding tables because again our server failed to bring them, I expect to not have to seek out our server to get refills for our family's drinks, I expect to not have to ask (after 35 minutes of waiting) "when can we expect our food", I expect to not have to send 75% of our meal back to be redone, I expect when a bad experience is had that the manager come over to check on things and see how they can improve for future service opportunities, I expect that when we receive our check there may be some form of discount and an apology, I expect the waitress to not hover over my wife's shoulder while completing the check and literally asking how much my wife would like to tip her. I expect that as we are walking out the door and down the sidewalk that the manager DOES NOT speed walk right up on to the back of our children and become frustrated with them because they don't move quickly enough, a simple "excuse me kiddos" would suffice or wait patiently another ten feet as you approach your side entry point. I expect better.

Does this make me a needy person, I do not believe so. As a business Owner, I can say that we ALL have off days and for this reason, I am withholding our waitresses name from this Review. It is my hope that just as people share their experiences with me in regard to our businesses so that we may improve, this will help Corner Grub Hub improve.

I will call and speak with a Manager tomorrow, not because I'm angry but because I'd very much like to revisit this restaurant and have a significantly improved...

I am unsure why people think so highly of this place. I have eaten there three times and have ordered delivery twice. Not once did I feel as if the person serving or over the phone was happy doing their job or dealing with a customer.

The last time I ordered delivery, I asked for some mozz sticks and a baked potato for my fiance. Unfortunately, the mozz sticks were fried for so long that there wasn't any cheese in them. This would have been something easily shrugged off if not for the fact that my potato was missing as well. Immediately, I had to drive to the spot, which defeats the purpose of delivery btw, and ask for them to try again.

The chicken fried steak is kind of overated because the two times I have had it, it tasted bland and spiceless, and their mashed potatoes could use a little more cream as well, however their giant delicious rolls truly are the saving grace for this plate.

All in all, this place is truly quite average, and in comparison, I really enjoyed the Cajun restaurant that was established there beforehand, (though I never liked the manager, Noah)

I am unimpressed. My experience in the food industry is vast, as I have worked in it for years before ending my career as a Steward for the cheesecake factory.

I suppose we will see if the sixth time is the charm here, but it may be a while before I have any sudden mouth watering urges to patronize...
