I was going to refrain from leaving a review but after reading the Facebook post on Aug 29, only a few days after my first and last visit. Then I saw some of the replies from the owners, and I feel as though it’s worth the risk of being banned considering I won’t be back to this establishment. Pricing is on the high end, bakeries downtown are less expensive and are better quality. Maybe because other bakeries aren’t spending their resources on AI facial recognition and tracing Reddit usernames back to emails. Honestly, this behavior is so unhinged. Calling customers uncultured because they didn’t care for the scorched milk in their “latte” is absolutely insane. I am just baffled at the statements put out by this business. One in particular, an employee had their hands full trying to enter the door and they said the customer should have helped, maybe they should install a foot pull so the employees do not have to look for a guest to help them do their job or perhaps trained properly. I also read that the first thing you’ll hear when you open the door is “welcome in” except you won’t. If your experience is like mine you will be left standing and waiting without being spoken to, and before anyone says well they were busy, they were not busy at this specific time. Standing and waiting for five minutes or more without any acknowledgment in a business as such is kind of outrageous. For the people that have referred to Italy, this bakery operates nothing like an Italian place of business from a customer service standpoint. Welcoming me in isn’t the end all be all if the food is outstanding. It wasn’t. I think they forgot the butter when making the croissants that morning, assuming they were made in house. Also, to only offer SMOKED GOUDA but not mention it AT ALL is somewhat strange. That is a very particular flavor, reminiscent of bacon. If you don’t like it, you really don’t like it. It’s not a mild flavor. It should be written someplace or verbalized to the guest when ordered to ensure that it is ok with them. I guess I should have went and looked for an owner based on the prior reviews and responses. That is not my responsibility. However, as a business owner, it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to inform guests of components of a dish. It is also your responsibility as a business owner to be able to take reviews constructively and seriously rather than trying to simply have the last word and threaten guests leaving their honest reviews.
Maybe if more time had been spent properly training employees rather than arguing with guests some of these issues could have been avoided.
I’ve never seen such unhinged behavior from a business owner. Ever.
Saffron Bakery on east bay has been around forever, has a good selection of euro products and has phenomenal baked goods and croissants!
Weltons tiny bake shop on upper king is also a fantastic option that uses anything and everything local and seasonal.
Both have great...
Read moreEdited to respond to owners' response: This is a true and honest review of the establishment. I just never posted it. I came to your establishment about 2 months ago. What I disagreed with you about the Facebook post you spoke of. Was when you asked people not to provide negative feedback about your establishment in your words "hateful reviews" I don't believe the reviews are for your benefit, but for the people wanting honest feedback about businesses to make their own decision if they want to invest their time and money. Which, you then wrote back at me and then blocked me. I wish I would have had more reviews like mine, so I would not have wasted my time and money. Apparently, you take honest negative feedback personally. You may want to get tougher skin if you are running a business. People are not going to like your product, and people may. But it is our right to provide our opinion whether you like it or not. It is not harassment just because you don't like what I have to say. I have never been disrespectful to any of your staff. I have only spoken to you through messages which, I have not been disrespectful. When I went into your establishment, I was very friendly and did not complain about anything. So the only disrespect I can assume you are speaking of, is that I did not like your food. Which is not disrespect, but honesty. Also, I provided my heritage to let people know I am familiar with authentic Italian food. P.s. you may want to learn not to have the last word. It does nothing for you. Also, I had no intention to return and invest time and money in an establishment I did not like. No loss to me. You may want to acclimate yourself more into the southern way since you are living in the south. Instead of saying "God bless you" the term is "bless your heart".
I usually do not enter my reviews about establishments, good or bad. In this instance, I thought differently. I am italian (from the compania region). I have also lived in Europe and traveled to Italy for years. I tried a variety of pastries from Talucci's and had a latte. The coffee was awful. Not sure if the girl behind the counter knew what she was doing. The pastries were sub par. I expected more based on word of mouth. But it did not hold up to the hype of being italian made. The sfogliatella was decent, good pastry, and filling. But the desserts I found to be dry and meh. They were overly priced for the quality that I received. I would not compare them to fine pastry shops in Italy, nor would I say the coffee is equal to italy.
Just received the below on messenger from the owner for the review I provided with my experience with their...
Read moreI had the pleasure of visiting Talucci’s Bakery recently, and from the moment I stepped in through the Deli entrance, I was blown away. The selection of Italian wines and imported products is incredible, a true slice of Italy right here at home! I picked up a few of their specialty pastas, homemade sauce, and their fresh ricotta cheese, which looked amazing. I also grabbed a slice of their grab-and-go lasagna and I was pleasantly surprised when the incredibly friendly woman at the register offered to warm it up and plate it for me to enjoy right there. Most places send you home with a microwavable container. That extra touch was nice. One bite and all I could say was: Wow! It was so good, I ended up purchasing the full meal deal to bring home. A full pan of their homemade lasagna, a fresh salad, and a loaf of their delicious Italian bread. It really is a fantastic deal for a full family dinner. Before I left, I wandered into the bakery section and was once again greeted warmly by the staff. The dessert selection was almost overwhelming (in the best way). I took home a cheesecake, rainbow cookies, and an assortment of beautiful pastries. I couldn’t resist enjoying a warm Nutella croissant on the spot and let me tell you, it melted in my mouth. Everything about Talucci’s from the quality of the food, the friendliness of the staff, and the inviting atmosphere is top-tier. It’s clear they take pride in everything they do. I can’t wait to come back and bring all my friends and family so they can experience this amazing place too.
Highly recommend. Talucci’s is truly...
