Chili's Grill & Bar — Restaurant in Sumter

The only reason I gave one star is so I could leave a review. I would have given none based on this last trip. I went in there about a month ago at lunch time, which was not busy, and we had to ask several times for our waiter because he was never to be found. When we paid, I had to get the hostess to get my waiter because he short changed me $10.00. When I went to tell him about it, he immediately pulled the 10.00 out, without me saying how much, and said oh I forgot to give you this. I wasn’t going back but decided to give it another try. Went in there a week ago at lunch again, our waitress was helping 3 tables while we were there. She took our order and brought out my friends food but not mine. I could not find her anywhere. She finally came to give us refills, which our cups had been emptied for a while. Asked about my food, she was frustrated and then proceeded to tell me from across the bar area that it wasn’t put into the system for the back. I finally got my food, which my friend was done with hers. I ate 1/2 of my food and asked for a box from our waitress because we had to get back due to our lunch break being over. Never saw the waitress, had to ask the hostess to give me a box and when our waitress finally returned, she asked me if she got me the box. I replied no and she started talking about how they are understaffed and if we only knew the things she’s had to deal with. I told the waitress, Donna, that this is the second time I’ve been in here and the service wasn’t good then either and I will not be back. Donna just walked away. I was never given an apology either. I did not see a manger there at all. This town is not a big town and I work with the public so when someone asked me for a recommendation, I will guarantee you that Chilis in Sumter will not be a place I...

I've come here on two occasions this month (Feb 2020) and the latest will be my last. First time I came to eat with my husband and son before a date night and we waited for drinks so long after being seated that my husband had time to leave and drop off our son to our baby sitter and come back. When he returned we still waited another 15 minutes or so to order. The customers around us were also looking around waiting for either a bar item or appetizer/entree. We gave the restaurant the benefit of the doubt thinking it was an off day of service being our first time there. Food came out finally and it wasn't the best quality but I took a to-go box anyway. Second occasion was with a group of 6 adults and 3 children. Very much disappointed in every aspect. Tables around us who sat down after us were receiving their entrees before us. We waited an hour for appetizers which came out with our entrees. To make matters worse, the grilled cheese was so burnt I'm baffled as to why the cook would plate it and why the waitress would even waste her time delivering it to our table for a child to eat. The burgers were burnt and were two different menu items. My southwest egg rolls were barely filled and also looked a little old to be honest. We spoke to a manager who told us they were understaffed and that there was nothing they could do for us. We were not the only customers asking for a manager or asking waiters/waitresses where our food was. The people around us had crossed arms and disappointed looks as well. My boyfriend and I went to Chili's last night for dinner at 7:30. We wanted to sit at a bar table, there were 2 open but the hostess said the servers use that for breaks so we couldn't sit there, 1st mistake. We were greeted well by a polite waitress,ordered drinks, they arrived promptly. I ordered a mushroom Swiss burger and when I asked for med rare, she said " well they'll cook it as best as they can!" What? I mean who says that?! For my side I asked for the white cheddar Mac and cheese. She wasn't writing any of this down. My bf ordered ribs with french fries and added a salad, which she said would be extra and that was ok. We finished our 1st drinks and wanted 2nd's but she wasn't around. My bf received his salad from another server and we had no salt and pepper so I had to get it from the server station. Just as he starts eating it, our dinners come out, poor time management. And then she said she put in the wrong side for me and gave me loaded Mac and cheese, so she gave me a side of both, at first I thought it was a nice gesture. I immediately cut my burger in half and it was well done. I ate almost half but it was awful. I ate a couple bites of each Mac and cheese and I was done. Our waitress never came over to ask how everything was. My bf didn't eat all his ribs, said they were tender but no flavor. We get our bill and she actually charged me for her mistake, and the whole time we never saw a manager and the restaurant was only about 1/4 full.
