The Restaurant at Second Mill Bar and Lounge — Restaurant in Sumter

Initially I had a potential problem with a customer as I left my pocket book on the seat for a few minutes as I went the bathroom, she said she was gonna turn it into the front, I took it like she was meddling in my affairs but as I went to the front desk and complained about it, it almost caused a big thing, It wasn't too big but staff looked to resolve it as fast as possible , a guy came up to me, I didn't realize he worked there at first and he got in the middle of it and I was trying to deal with it. Looking back it almost reminded me of the Andy Griffith show lol. Then I realized after when I was eating that he was the one cleaning the restaurant.

Afterwards though things got cool, I continued to eat and the staff at this place is overall very helpful. after all no one wants a fight in their restaurant. And again I apologize to my waitress for having to get her in the middle. I just thought some woman was actually the one trying to get my purse thinking she might be the potential theif as I go to restaurants all the time and I mark my place usually to let waitresses know I am eating or not leaving or whatever. It's never been an issue anywhere. Apparently a lot of thieves are in that area I don't know and the customer may have meant well but sometimes I can't tell with people because I have been burned too.

Onto the food now, real good. I liked the hash, it tasted more like ground up pulled pork. The Mac and cheese, ribs and fried batter on the pork chop and chicken was really nice. Good sides and vegetables....

Food is good depending on the day you go. Make sure you check your food if you get carry out. They have messed my order up before. Got beef stew and 2 sides of what tasted to be like overcooked sugar corn. I didn't like it. Salad bar is dirty if you go in after lunch. I thought this restaurant was going to survive but I'm not sure now. Another time I went in the waitress filled our water up once and never asked or filled it up again. These seem lack of management problems or someone just doesn't care. I would give 1 star but I'm hoping they can get it together or hire new management. You wont last long like this in this economy.

18feb2021 Salad bar was slack today. I'm not sure if it's a management issue or what but I hope y'all figure it out bc cleaning as you go is one of the top rules in the restaurant industry. Why make it hard on the customers just because someone is having a hard time doing there job.

28Feb21 Went in just for a salad today. Just as I expected it was one of the poorest examples of fresh salad. Why would you put the fresh vegetables in water ? I think the cook here is not actually a cool because if he was then he would have pride in his food. There was chicken salad in the bell peppers so I didn't eat that. All the dressings are usually in each other. The salad was $7.50. I believe they are ripping people off and taking advantage of hard working people during this pandemic. Does management neglect everything they do it just...

The restaurant food gets 5 stars but who cares about food when the service sucks. Let me be clear this relates more to the lounge than restaurant. My family and I celebrate our mother's birthday there Friday night. It was about 15-20 of us with one underage teen. This teen attends the lounge every Thursday for line dancing in the lounge with no problem. She was told that as long as she has a guardian she is allowed in that area. Friday night after 9:30 the bartender stated she couldn't be in there per Owner. Now this may be correct but here is my problem...1) It's now what you say bit how you say it. This man was rude very unnecessarily! 2) Is the lounge a club? If so then club rules need to be clearly posted. We are not rule breakers so if there is something that states she wouldn't be allowed after 9:30 we wouldn't have any argument. 3) GET ON THE SAME PAGE! She had 1 chaperone per several kids for line dancing after 9:30 on Thursday but 19 chaperones for 1 child wasn't enough on Friday?! We are highly disappointed in the lack of proper notification and accountability. Did know this company is in the business for making a child cry because she felt she ruined her...
