We placed our order at the counter. The woman who took our order had some language issues and did not pay full attention to us. My wife had her confirm our order. The order of Shrimp Summer Rolls was a bit expensive ($10.99) for two rolls. This made us think twice about having an appetizer. However, they were huge and enjoyable.

My wife’s Panang Curry Chicken was served almost immediately after the Summer Rolls were brought out. She said her dish was bland. I did not get my order until much later. We did want to eat together and not serially. When they brought my Pad Thai it was with chicken rather than the shrimp that I had ordered. The woman that took our order also served us. She was perturbed and denied that I ordered shrimp. I handed her the plate so she would take it to the kitchen. She came back with Pad Thai that had a mix of chicken and shrimp. In other words, they picked some of the chicken out and added shrimp. What a mixed up flavor that was. What kind of restaurant would decline to make the dish right rather than do this?

Since they did not offer to provide a receipt, when I went to the counter to pay, I asked for a receipt. However, the family matriarch, who spoke even worse English, told me that the receipts they had were theirs and I could not have one. The woman we had dealt with made me wait while she went and cleaned the table. When she came back we had a blowout argument with yelling and threats. The receipt she provided was made from her retyping the order and did not have any credit card information.

The bottom line is … if you want to have an unpleasant, frustrating experience with mediocre food, look no further. This is your place. The moral of this story is: Just because they are from Thailand does not mean that they can cook or run...

One of the best Asian restaurants in SC! It’s on the smaller side which I can see causing a wait during rush hours. But to my surprise, they were able to manage the line efficiently and our food came out pretty fast. The ambiance is nice and cozy with fun paintings on the walls representing Thai culture. Plenty of seatings and kids friendly. The menu is nicely done - they focus on soups, salads and Vietnamese sandwiches but they also offer a special Thai dish that they rotate each day.

For appetizer, we had papaya salad and shumai (steam dumplings). Both were tasty and authentic. For main, we had roasted duck noodle soup. It’s a 10! The broth was so flavorful and the duck was delicious. It’s really hard to find a place that offers roasted duck noodle soup in SC and do it right (not greasy/ not salty, not gamey), so I would highly recommend trying this dish. The size was generous, too. Today’s special dish was Khao Mun Gai, poached chicken over rice. We wanted to try it so bad but we got so full so we ordered it to take home and it’s also a 10! Even after reheating, the chicken was still so tender. The rice was well seasoned and it also came with a soup that complimented the dish.

They also have Asian desserts! We tried Japanese cheesecake (souffle style cheesecake). It was on point! Not too sweet, fluffy, super soft and airy. We also ordered a crepe cake to take home with Thai coffee. Everything was delicious and the prices were great. We can’t wait to come back and try everything...

This was not long after they opened, so still figuring some things out I hope. I really want to love this place. I got spoiled by the other place in town, which is what I measure other places to. I was hoping this place would be comparable, but it's not there yet. It is definitely worth trying for yourself and making your own assessment. Staff is VERY friendly. Atmosphere is happy and pleasant.

Food is ok. Not exceptional. Dishes were Sunday special, fresh rolls, mango salad, Friday special - green curry.

Something is missing in terms of flavor, maybe acid, maybe more spices, maybe fish sauce, or lime leaves, or lemongrass, or salt?. I understand that they are intending to do healthy food, but a little salt goes a long way to enhance flavor.

Condiment tray was not available

None of the dishes had the depth of flavor or brightness that I was expecting.

Mango salad was served on iceberg lettuce and was missing herbs and acid.

Sunday special tasted fine, but was not served hot and requested that it be reheated, also had no garnish.

Green curry was VERY watery, and had heat, but flavor balance was off...green curry flavor/heat ratio. It had big pieces of Thai basil cooked in it, but was not served with any fresh lime or herbs.

Fresh rolls were fine, and sauce was good, but again no herbs and they fell apart.

Didn't try any dessert or Bai...

My wife and I are in town visiting family and we recently stopped by Pho Thai Street Food & Bakery and left feeling thoroughly impressed by what they have to offer Definitely had to go with a staple, the Chicken Pho. Its broth was rich, striking that balance of spices without overpowering the chicken’s mild flavor. The noodles were spot on, soft yet still a bit firm, and made for a warm lunch, especially for late December weather I also sampled their Green Thai Tea, which turned out to be better than I expected. Its bright hue had me nervous but had a sweetness to it that blended well with the tea’s natural earthiness. It’s an absolute must-try for any visitor For an appetizer, the Shu Mai stood out as well. They were moist and packed with savory goodness, wrapped in a casing that was just the right thickness. I forget the name but the dipping sauce brought everything together The staff was friendly and attentive and since the same young lady was taking orders, cleaning, and serving food decided to give her an extra tip on top of the tip when ordering All in all, Pho Thai Street Food & Bakery delivers classic flavors for Thai and Vietnamese street food. I see the locals said it is under new management and for what it's worth for just being in town for the holidays from Ohio, I'd recommend this spot!

I came across Pho Thai Street Food & Bakery last week after visiting Sumter for the first time in several years. I wanted something warm to eat on a dreary day and was not disappointed. I walked in and placed an order to go. The restaurant is small but clean and well decorated. The service was fantastic, and the woman at the counter was very friendly and offered drink and dessert suggestions. I ended up ordering a Thai tea with boba, chicken pho, and the rainbow crepe cake. I waited for less than 15 minutes, and everything was ready to go. The Thai tea was fantastic and may have been the best that I've ever had. The size of the drink was huge and worth the price! The pho was nice and hot, even after I arrived at my destination, and the crepe cake was a nice sweet treat to end the meal. I enjoyed everything so much that I went the next day and ordered the chicken dumplings, a pandan custard bun, moon cake, and a couple of macarons. They were also worth the trip. I 100% recommend Pho Thai Street Food & Bakery and will visit again if I return to Sumter!
