Shuckers of Sumter — Restaurant in Sumter

We're new to the area and visited this place based off local recommendations. Our order was messed up, no biggie. The person we spoke with on the phone was nice, courteous and helpful. Promised us we could come and have our order replaced. Ok fine, fast forward to today and my boyfriend goes to pick up our replacement order. The manager on duty is disrespectful as all get out. She asks him if he would be tipping the cashier for retrieving the food. He says no, as this is a replacement for an order made wrong and we are not dining in, just picking up. The MANAGER informs him that since he isn't tipping he cannot have our order and aggressively put him out of the restaurant. She then calls his cell phone after we have already left the eatablishment to inform him that because he refused to tip on a REPLACEMENT ORDER even though we were not eating in, that we aren't allowed back. Even if she had not made the phone call, we would never have spent another cent there. The treatment was downright ludicrous. As we were the only brown skinned patrons in the establishment, I assume that's the reason for the disrespectful treatment. I rate this...

If you are in Sumter and want five star quality meal with a few good drinks this is the only place to go. The cook here, Dwight is one of the best in the county and Jenn or TC the best bartenders. The ribeye or pulled pork sandwiches are not to be missed and the 50 cent tacos(60 cent soft shell) on taco Tuesday is the best deal in town. Don't miss the dart boards and very well taken care of pool tables or the juke box that has any song you may think of and if you love sports the bar is the best place to sit, every soul there is talking the game!!! 1st you should know Shuckers is a private club but you can be a member for $10 if you have a member sponsor you. 2nd it's a smoking establishment 3rd you would never know they allow smoking! Shuckers filtration system is AMAZING! My clothes never smell of smoke!!! The FOOD selection and taste is EXCELLENT! I can't wait for oysters to get in season! Bacon wrapped scallops were soooo good!
