My family and I were passing through and decided to stop here for a to-go order. I ordered the Ottoman Platter, a gyro for my husband, and a pasta dish for my son.
When we received our order, there were no utensils included. My husband went back inside to get some for us. We then continued on our drive, as we were heading home. While on the road, I began eating and quickly realized that the kebab in my Ottoman Platter seemed undercooked. Even though we were already about 15 minutes away, I decided to turn back.
When I explained the issue, I was told the kebab looked that way because of the onions used in the recipe. I pointed out that the chicken and other meats on the platter appeared to be cooked at a glance, so I didn’t understand why the kebab looked so different. I asked what type of onions were used, but the waiter said he didn’t know—only that this is what the owner had told him.
He offered me either a refund or the option to order something else. I said I still wanted food, so I placed a different order and chose the shrimp pasta dish. However, what I received was simply shrimp and cheese—there was no pasta. I didn’t go back again because I felt shy and we were short on time. Still, it was frustrating that even the replacement order was incorrect.
Food: 2/5 My husband and son were able to eat and enjoy their meals. Qadr Allāh, mine was the one with repeated issues—and it happened to be the most expensive. When I got home, I figured I could eat the other meats from the Ottoman Platter and just recook the kebab later, especially since the pasta dish came without pasta. But upon checking, I found that the other meats also had signs of being undercooked, which made it even more disappointing. I didn’t feel the price I paid was justified at all.
Service: 2/5 If not for the kind attitude of the lady who originally took our order, I would have rated this even lower. There was hesitation to resolve the issue, and although I was offered a replacement, it came out wrong—so the problem remained unresolved.
Atmosphere: 1/5 I was uncomfortable with the presence of statues and certain antiques in the dining area. It’s not an environment I would personally return to.
Final Verdict: I don’t believe I’ll go back there to eat. But if I ever do, I’ll likely stick to what my husband or son ordered. I really disliked that I spent money on a dish that ended up being wrong—not...
Read moreFrom the moment we sat down at our table, our waitress Alicia started to cater my wife (which I love to see when we dine out). She asked if we’d been here before, to which we said no. She then offered us wine, asking what type of wine my wife likes and generously offered up a couple samples. She then came back with a generous pour of the wine my wife chose. Just based off of the personal attention that Alicia was giving us, I told my wife that I was very happy we came to Meze. I knew immediately that we’d be back.
My wife and I have to be very picky where we choose to eat due to my wife’s extreme gluten allergy. We mentioned this fact to Alicia and she jumped at the chance to show us the menu selections that my wife could eat. There are several dishes that are gluten free here. I chose the Doner Kabop plate and my spouse chose a salmon dish with a tomato sauce. Both dishes were splendid. My gyro meat wasn’t the boring tasteless meat served at the other gyro restaurant in Sun Prairie. It was flavorful and very moist.
Atmosphere was nice with Mediterranean music in the background. Real napkins and real silverware! Good wine, over the top service and a super meal. We highly recommend asking for Alicia when you go here. She made this dinner a really great experience.
Thanks Alicia for being a real person with a great personality. We...
Read moreNice place. Beautiful presentation of food. Great service. Unfortunately, there were some inconsistencies with the tastes of the food. I had the Doner Plate, and it looked gorgeous. Unfortunately, it didn't satisfy my taste palate as much as I would have liked. The meat, cooked perfectly, but wasn't really seasoned, almost borderline bland, but perfect texture and consistency. The Rice was perfectly cooked, the slaw was ok. I'm just sad that my favorite thing was the tzaziki and the pita bread. Unfortunately, it there was a small hair in my food, but I just brushed it off and let them know to be more careful next time. Compared to the Mediterranean restaurants in Europe, this one tastes a little too healthy and flavorless.
No foodgasm for me.
However, the waitress is really nice, sweet, and knew the menu so she was able to answer any questions. Price is very reasonable for the amount of time they take to prepare and make the food. Everything was cooked perfectly, they just gotta get the right seasonings, just a little bland and healthy tasting. Music is also a lil too loud in the background, but those are just some things that can be adjusted. Lots of great potential for this restaurant. Hope to come here again. The eggplant looked really good, so I may try that one next time. Keep up the...
