Varsity Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Sun Prairie

Came in to place a take out order because the online ordering didn't work. Ordered the Friday Fish Fry, then waited. Maybe 15 minutes in I noticed a take out order sitting in its bag behind the bar. Receipt says order was taken by Ben, and I consistently made eye contact with him. Guess it wasn't my food because he did nothing. Didn't figure anyone could be that incompetent to know I was waiting on an order and there was one sitting right there. A literal 55 minutes after ordering, the guy checks the bag and yeah, it actually was my order, which has sat there for 40 minutes while I waited, getting more anxious and upset. It was extremely humiliating, waiting around for my food while others ordered after me and got their food before me. I was there, getting looks, people probably wondering why I was standing around for an hour. I was too upset to complain to a manager, I just wanted to get out of there. I honestly have only been here 2 times, both experiences were horrible. The bartenders have horrible attitudes, rolls there eyes when you ask for something. Started putting less liquor in my drinks on purpose ( I watched ). Just not a good vibe all around. Bad energy from both bar tenders last night (February 12th 2021). My drink tasted as no alcohol was in my drink and I asked them why that was and I was told “what do you want me to do about that” just horrible customer service all around. If you don’t like your job, please find a new one. No one wants to go out for a night of fun and be treated so poorly. I came out of wanting to try some place new to me. Im glad when I did the place filled quickly with regulars. It's an old fashioned neighborhood bar and grill. Taking care their regulars came first and that's understandable. It was comfortable place to socialize. I was alone I ordered bake cod with wedge fries and Cole slaw. Was not disappointed at all. Food came out hot and worth the cooking time. The baked cod was a better size than most places anymore and very well seasoned. Cole slaw seemed homemade and well blended. Wedge fries was done nicely... Would I come back? not during rush hour people driving from Madison to sun prairie drove INSANE .....
