Tacos Apatzingan — Restaurant in Sunnyside

I discovered this taqueria about 12 years ago. Then, it was hardly a place at all: a largish one-story storefront with a scattering of tables, a small flat top grill, and a huge kettle stewing away at some eye-opening smells. My crew and I blazed our way through a couple dozen tacos of all stripes and it was on! I ate nowhere else in Sunnyside for the remainder of our out-of-town work excursion. Tortas the next day, Pozole the day after that, then on the last day, all the burritos! I drive this highway a few times a year across the state for one reason or another, and no matter who I'm with or what's on the schedule (hungry or not!) Tacos Apatzingan rates a pit stop. Even for one, simple and honest taco. I get the feeling that this is the Mexican food Mexicans...

I was craving quesabirria tacos and stopped by since I heard they sold them there. They took my order and specifically said for NO ONIONS since I’m ALLERGIC!! Once I got my order they I saw my tacos had onions and I told them I asked for no onions, they told me they were going to “remake” the tacos. They literally turned around and picked the onions out and they didn’t even get all the onions out and the fact that I saw it all! They told me my tacos were ready and I confronted them and told them I saw them pick them out and I would like my order to be actually remade since I paid for my food and I’m allergic to onions. I don’t understand why they can’t just do orders how they’re ordered! They lack in their customer service. NEVER coming back here,...

I go to this place occasionally, and every food item that I have eaten has been quite delicious. The meat is always tender and juicy, no matter what kind of meat it has been. The inside of this establishment has gotten nicer over time, and the tables and chairs have become more comfortable. However, the vegetable and condiments bar that they had available has been removed, and you can no longer add those things to the food to your liking.
