Ginger Cafe — Restaurant in Sunnyvale

I dined here with my childhood friend. We ordered the 2 dinner special for $30. The dinner included: blue crab dumplings, string bean chicken, mongolian beef, egg rice, and fried banana ice cream. In addition to the dinner special, we also ordered the porcupine custard bun.

I really enjoyed the blue crab dumplings. However, both main courses: mongolian beef and the string bean chicken, especially had high levels of sodium. I know as a yelp reader, you don't know much about me. I usually don't consume a lot of fluids. But during the dinner, I drank literally 5 cups of water. And the salt was so overwhelming that I could taste the salt even after gulping down the water. I'm not sure what it was- the salt, or the MSG, but they killed it (not in a good way!)

The fried banana ice cream was delicious though. It was probably the best thing we had all throughout the meal.

The porcupine custard bun was great in presentation, but it lacked flavor and was definitely not as tasty as it looks.

Food is reliably very good. Used to come here all the time when we lived in Sunnyvale. Moved away and still come back every time we're in the area. Without fail we always order the eggplant tofu, and the vegetarian Kung Pao "chicken" and vegetable chow mein. All of these are exceptionally tasty.

My only complaint is that the bathroom needs deep cleaning. Like seriously get some professional help cleaning the bathroom stall walls, tile floors and grout, and buy some new toilet paper holders in where broken ones are. Also update the sink faucet, clean the sink and get paper towels In addition to that "stupid' wall fan. Nobody wants to touch the door handle. Provide paper towels so we don't have to grab toilet seat covers to open the exit door. And while you're at it, put a waste basket by the door where we can throw whatever we used to open the door with. Thank you.

I will still come back as the food is very good, but if the bathroom cleanliness still sucks the next time I go, that will be the last time...

My family loves Ginger Cafe. The service at this restaurant is unmatched. Extremely friendly and attentive. I'm sad I forgot to take pictures of our our meal, but the presentation is wonderful and portions are generous. Our favorites are the bbq pork bun appetizers, Sweet and Sour pork, Green bean chicken and the Special Chow Fun. The Sweet and Sour & Pork Buns, and Chow Fun are AMAZING!!!

Recently I carelessly lost an item (probably dwntn Sunnyvale) after trying to rush to the Xmas Train event. I called the restaurant and the staff went through great lengths to help me find it. Even willing to call staff and search restaurant for item. I'm appreciative for tremendous efforts made. Not many restaurants would put forth this amount of care and concern. Superb Customer service.

I'm not sure why this place isn't packed with people at all times it really is among the top three Chinese restaurants in the area. Please give it a try. You won't be...
