this place has climbed to the top of one of my favorite hot pot places! I have been there a few times already and it has never disappointed.
After COVID, they had started implementing a QR code instead of ordering in person. I like that they have a free sake with a yelp check in! one sake per two people at the table. They also have a sauce bar! They have a good variety things that you can mix and match.
The combos are the best deal IMO. I usually get the single combo by myself, and it is very filling. $25 When I went with my boyfriend, we got the meat lovers combo $60, which includes three meats! We ordered 2 extra sides as well. We were sooo full and couldn't even finish. There was enough for me to have lunch the next day! I enjoyed the beef toro the most. I liked the lamb too, but it does have a gamey smell when cooked, so beware of that! I wasn't too fond of the kurobuta pork. it was a little too chewy when cooked. My favorite side would have to be the shrimp paste! We also got the winter melon lemonade. I think its basically wintermelon drink + lemonade all together. Butter spicy is not too spicy UNTIL it starts to cook down, then its just a lot of oil. sukiyaki does not come with an egg, so ask for one if you do order that broth.
a downside is finding parking... there is a small parking garage around the corner but the space is used for all the retail parking around the area as well. Wait time on a Sunday around 6pm -- 20 minutes Wait time on a weekday around 7 -- 5-10 minutes check in/waitlist on yelp on the iPad inside. you cannot add yourself on the waitlist until you get there
Overall awesome place! the amount of meat and veggies you get is a lot more than other places. a meat serving is 7oz vs some places is about 5-6oz extra sides are about $6 each. service is great -- refilling water and asking if I want a refill on broth. The broth is just hot water, so not...
Read moreSo I wanted to like this place. We are trying to try new places so this was the choice. We went in and there were two parties already waiting for a table. Both parties were Asian. We added our info to the wait list (the Yelp thing). After I added it and checked my position in line I had 8 parties ahead of me. They obviously are not updating the list when people are seated. Pointless. We were waiting and waiting... No one was even there to greet us. Finally after about 20 min someone comes over and speaks in Chinese to only the two Asian parties ahead of us. WTH... They completely ignored me. Then they sat the other two parties. 5 minutes later they finally come back to me and ask how many and if I want a table or the counter. I said a table will probably be best as we have a small child with us. He said it would be 5-10 min wait. Finally thay seat us. They explained the menu and were helpful here. We ordered the two person combo. The amount of food they bring is not enough for two people. The amount of noodles wasn't even enough for one. The broths were...eh. So what am I paying nearly $50 for? So I can cook my own bland food? Thank goodness for the sauce bar as it is the only thing with flavor. If not for that it would have been the worst. They didn't even ask is if we wanted a fork for our daughter or spoons for the broth. The parties sitting around us had both. Also it took FOREVER for them to take our order. The people sitting beside us had been sitting for 5 min and they had their order taken. After we are we were waiting and waiting for the bill. Finally my husband went up to the register and asked for it. Lousy service and overpriced bland food. I will not be back. Don't go...
Read moreCame here with two friends on a Saturday evening for dinner at 6:30 PM, and surprisingly, there was not a wait at all. Although, the restaurant started getting more full through 7 PM and the rest of our stay. We got the meat lovers combo and a single combo, so it would be enough for three people, but we found that it was a bit too much food for us. That's not a problem, but I think you should consult with your group to see if you all like the same vegetables and meats because we had some toppings left over. When it comes to shabu shabu, I am hesitant about going to places without all you can eat, but the portions here are great.
Everyone in our group got different broths. Sukiyaki is sweet. The Tom Yum is tart. I got the buttery spicy, and I thought it would burn a lot more like Szechuan pepper, but it honestly wasn't that bad. However, it was salty and I think that if you can't tolerate spice that well, it may be a bit much for you.
The service was great! I also really love that they offer a free sake when you check in on Yelp. It's one offer per person, not per table, which is awesome. I recommend getting the wagyu if you like fatty meats, but if you like less fat, I think the ribeye is a good option. We got a combination of both.
I really love that they have a self-serve sauce bar. The chilies are spicy! I tried one of their recommendations on the blackboard, but ended up making some of my own combinations.
Overall, at $25-$30 per person, I think it's a bit standard for shabu shabu prices in the area, and I'm always happy...
