I don't like leaving bad reviews, but I felt the need to warn others. I ordered my wedding cake from Sugar Butter Flour. I had been emailing back and forth with Mojgan asking general questions about pricing, flavors, ect. prior to ordering. I scheduled a cake tasting in these emails and even confirmed with her the day before. However, when I arrived at the bakery with my fiance, they had no idea what I was talking about. I had to actually pull up the emails on my phone to prove to them I had scheduled a cake tasting for that day and it was confirmed by Mojgan. They seemed annoyed and flustered at this. The tasting itself went fine and we found 2 flavors we really liked and ordered our cake. I requested a copy of the paperwork that was filled out and now looking back I am very thankful that I did. We put down a deposit that day which was half the total price of the cake. Fast forward to about 15 days before my wedding. I go to the bakery to pay for the rest of the cake. The person behind the counter tries to look up my order- he couldn't find any record of it and then informs me that he is just filling in and doesn't know much. He looked at the paperwork I had a copy of and took down my contact information and said that someone will be in contact with me. I wait 2 days and called since I never heard anything from them. The lady that answered, again couldn't find any record of my cake. She took down my contact information and said that Mojgan will call me on Wednesday (my wedding was on Sunday). I never get a call. I decide to actually go there on Thursday and the lady behind the counter now says that they do have a record of my cake. At this point in time I honestly was not expecting to have a wedding cake. However, the morning of my wedding to my surprise, the cake was made. I would just warn any future brides that dealing with this bakery is a headache and I would definitely go elsewhere if I could go back and do it again. In the end, it was not worth the stress and anxiety to deal with this place that didnt know how to communicate effectively and did nothing to calm my worries...
Read moreI visited some time ago and had reached out directly to the staff. I wanted to give them some time to respond to my concerns before submitting a review. Given that they have not responded and it’s been over a month, I am now expressing my frustration and disappointment in this establishment. I had placed a last minute order of 30 sugar cookies on behalf of my company with the company logo in addition to a “1000” golden design. Upon receiving the cookies I was highly disappointed given the appearance of the cookies. While I do understand that the order was last minute, if you are unable to execute my request, I prefer it not be done. The majority of the numbers on the 1000 cookie were Crooked and some were even upside down. The sugar cookie was literally a cookie covered with printed out fondant of our logo and NOT made with royal icing giving the cookie a flat thin look. Given we paid 8$ per cookie which is above standard pricing, I would have at least expected the cookies appearance to be decent. The morning of my arrival the staff was kind and I decided to order myself a fruit tart on the way out of picking up my order. When I had arrived to work I discovered that there was mold on the fruit of my tart only after consuming half of it. I’m extremely disappointed in the lack of attention to detail with their product and I’m even more disappointed in the managers failure to address my concerns given the time frame allotted to them.
I strongly encourage not doing business with them as it is clear their selections are not carefully monitored and/or fresh, and their...
Read moreWe're pretty disappointed with our Sugar Butter Flour experience; the website pictures are completely different than the actual product, and this is especially misleading during a time when many folks cannot and should not be ordering in person.
After placing an order over the phone for a Dream Cake for 12/30, we expected the cake to be decorated the way it is on the website; given public health guidelines, no one in my household thought it was wise to check cakes out in person. My parents picked up the cake and I was surprised to find that instead a simple, elegant flat top with large chocolate curls as per the website, there was basic looking piping and sprinkles, indistinguishable from a grocery store cake. This cake was meant for a simple anniversary, and did not hold up to the occasion.
When calling the bakery, the young man on the phone let me know that this is a deliberate decision from the owners, and that most if the cakes that are pictured are NOT decorated in the way the website pictures show, and they are far less elegant or intricate in actuality. This practice has turned me off from buying from Sugar Butter Flour again--we paid a premium with the expectation the website gave, and that premium price turned out to not be worth it.
Added a second star for the taste and flavor of the cake, which was enjoyable, and the honesty of the young man I spoke to...
