Now this is a pizza place! The dough, the toppings, the seasonings, marination of topping meat and price point is bang on. This place definitely is on a different level compared to other hyped pizza places in the area.
We went here for a post lunch meal. The order consisted of 1 medium Chicken Tikka with traditional crust and 1 medium Malai Chicken with thin crust. Both had distinct flavors. The pieces of chicken were very generous on both. We could clearly make out the chicken was indeed in the tandoor before making it's way on the pizza and the malai chicken had been well marinated too as it was soft and tasted really good. The accompanied veggie toppings were fresh and crisp. We really feasted our eyes before digging in. For once the actual pizza looked the way it is advertised on the menu. Perfect! The crusts on both tasted great and we did not even think twice before munching on the edges. It just felt like a continuation of pizza rather than sticking out. The spice level on the pizza cannot be customized. They do have all different options on the menu though.
If you are going here please try out their nimbu pani. It tastes home made and you can taste the organic Indian sugar not the granulated one.You do have to buy water here. I'd suggest a couple of nimbu pani orders instead.
Ambience: Big open space. There are tables for parties of 2,4 and maybe a large one of like 15. Kitchen looks neat clean and organized. Process: Lookup menu, order and pay at the counter. Food is brought to your table (not sure if this holds during rush hours) Quantity: Generous Parking: Limited street parking right in front of the establishment. You could also use the parking lots on the other side of the building near Murphy square. It'll be a 3 min...
Read moreAlways on the lookout for both late night options and Indian pizza, was excited that this place was open until 2am and close by. Also excited about the strawberry nutella pizza, which sounds like the "treat-za" pizzas I remember from the Pizza Hut lunch buffets of my youth.
The place looks modern and it's a nice touch that they have their own branded pizza boxes that match their cute art on their menus.
But the taste does not live up to my 2 favorite Indian pizza places in the area, Curry Pizza House and My Indian Pizza, or my favorite Indian pizza place in Bakersfield even (inexplicably named Amigo's).
The crust and the toppings were all dry and hard with very little sauce, and the flavor, especially the paneer, was bland. No difference in spice between the 1 spicy and the 3 spicy spice levels, and couldn't taste a strong difference between the different sauces, whereas at my 2 faves every sauce is distinct.
Also no explicitly Jain options here (none at MIP either, to be fair).
My experience with the savory pizza makes me not want to come back to try the dessert pizza, unfortunately. I was hoping this could at least be my backup after 10pm/midnight on weekends for late night Indian pizza cravings, but it looks like I'd be better off waiting till the next day to satisfy my Indian pizza stomach.
Update: I appreciate the business' prompt and polite response. If you do have Jain pizzas, they were either not labeled or not clearly labeled, as it was the first thing I looked for but did not see on the menu. Looking at the menu again I still don't see Jain mentioned anywhere. Which pizzas, for future reference, are safe...
Read moreProbably the worst customer service and pizza we've ever experienced...we do not recommend this place. Definitely take their bad reviews into account before trying this place.
I am quite surprised by their rating, but maybe it's just this location that is terribly lacking? My partner and I decided to try this place out yesterday and we are in full regret.
We waited nearly an hour for our pizza after watching 4 different parties who ordered AFTER us received their orders. Not to mention there was another table who had ordered way before us who also still did not receive their food either who was waiting there for over an hour.
Mind you, we didn't order anything crazy we ordered one pizza for two people. A family of 4 who came after us got their two pizzas and appetizers before us. After we noticed this, the table who ordered before us asked the lady about their order and I proceeded to ask her about ours and mentioned that people who came in well after us was receiving their food before us? She just brushed us all off and said it was coming.
We are very understanding when it comes to wait times, but the place was unkept and no one had the decency to communicate with us or the other table about the time or the fact that they served others before us. The lady ended up hiding in the back for the rest of the time we waited probably to avoid us. They did nothing to remedy this situation. We ended up getting the pizza Togo and frankly it was so undercooked we couldn't even eat it.
We'll stick to Masala Pizza which has phenomenal service and...
