This place has been great historically. They’ve got a nice location and pleasant staff. The seating inside isn’t the most comfortable but that’s ok. The food selection is rather limited as this is a coffee place. I’m a barista and I’ve had excellent lattes from here before. Recently however things were a bit different. The first latte we got was way too hot. So we asked for it to be remade which it was but somehow with less espresso grounds than the first one which led to a watery pull and an underwhelming drink with not a lot of flavor. These are pretty basic components of latte-making. It’s not like we’re over here lamenting the presence or absence of latte art. Rosettas are nice when everything else about the drink has been nailed.
Tips for milk steaming:
Hold the steam wand just below the surface of the milk so it squeals and creates a whirlpool. Keep it there till you can feel the warmth of the milk through the carafe. Done.
I’ve worked at several shops and everyone (shop + barista of each shop) has their own style. Some are better than others. Read moreHorrible. Not even an attempt at service. When we arrived for breakfast, one lady greeted my wife and I, said she would be right back, we never seen her again however there were 3 other employees up front, they never spoke to us to see if we wanted to sit down, order, or anything. After about 10 minutes another customer walked in and informed us that we ordered at the counter then we could sit down, I was more than pissed by then because we had been standing there with 3 other employees and not one bothered to say anything. We decided after that amount of disrespect we would be better to spend our money elsewhere, coincidentally Sears Landing across the street has the best grits I've ever had at...
