Was excited to surprise my son with a different type of donut on my last day off with him for my Christmas break. Drove 57 mins just to get donuts.. i had them one time before from a coworker gift and they were good. I thought the store vibe would be similar to cookie crumble but was disappointed when the young worker that was taking my order for a dozen donuts wiped her running nose three times with her ungloved hand and wiped her mouth three times leaving her fingers on her lip to ask me what flavors I would like.. as shes setting her germy hands inside my donut box. I politely said I would like a new box after you wash your hands since you have wiped your running nose a dozen times. The employee gets mad and slams her pen down and disappears in the back. An older lady.. assuming it was the owner..who was wearing a face mask came out and asked me what I would like. I politely again said.. i wasnt trying to be rude but she was wiping her nose and mouth with her hands and touching the inside of the box to write what flavors i wanted. I was saddened to realize I wasnt going to get an apology or a new box. All she said was no you’re good. I saw the same girl in the back glaring at me with ungloved hands using a spatula tool to scrape the mixing bowl of dough and using her hands to get dough out. They were using ungloved hands to make the donuts and then before dipping the donuts finally put on gloves. I wanted to leave immediately..but spent 2 hrs for a round trip to their establishment and 20.00 there for a dozen donuts.. The donuts are original and tasty but super unclean process. I wont be going back. Gave it two stars cause it was a short wait and she said thank you when I was leaving. Im from a small town, and usually small town places are super outgoing and friendly who want to keep your business but it seemed their attitude was treating you as lucky they let you in the doors....
Read moreFranctured Prune? More like Fractured Business. We stopped in the night before to find out if they had an option for nut allergies. We were told by a very professional and knowledgeable young lady that yes, they would put on a fresh glove, and they had cinnamon sugar and powdered sugar in tubs in the back that was not cross contaminated, and they would be willing to dip the doughnuts in those. We were happy with that option and planned to come the next morning for doughnuts. The next day, when I arrived and placed my order, I advised the woman taking my order that we had children with nut allergies. She immediately threw her hands up at me and said "this is not the place for you." I proceeded to tell her that the girl I spoke with the night before said they could(see paragraph one). She stated "that must have been one of the teenagers here. I am the owner and I have a sign posted (as she points to an 8×10 photo frame leaning against the side wall not obvious to anyone...), we are not responsible for any allergic reactions" I said "that's fine, I'll just order a dozen." She then started to reiterate her excuse so I stopped her and said "let's move on." I understand that you don't want to end up in some weird litigation over a reaction to nut cross contamination but the rudeness was unnecessary. Also, don't pass the blame to one of YOUR employees that YOU hired and trained. In regards to the doughnuts themselves?? Unimpressed at best. Doughnuts were soft and soggy, glazes were more sugar than flavor, and toppings were...
Read moreThis was our first time going to Daybreak Donuts. We ordered a half dozen donuts for just over $11. The donuts were small and light weight ( with the toppings). We were really disappointed with the size and especially with the flavors or should I say lack of flavors. Regardless of what flavors we ordered all we could taste was the plain cake batter. In my opinion this company is only concerned with making money not customer satisfaction. If you're visiting, don't waste your money here you will be disappointed. Brit's donuts, Wake and Bake Donuts ( Wilmington/Carolina Beach) Dunkin donuts, Publix or Food Lion (Local) have way better donuts for a better price. It's worth going somewhere else if you want a good and filling donut for your family. As you see in the picture we got a half dozen. First row from top left to right powdered: cinnamon roll, salted caramel, maple bacon, peanut butter cup and Boston Cream ( which was not inside the donut like normal but slapped in the hole of the donut). It seems they do the bare minimum when it comes to the flavoring of the donuts. To me it reminds me of overpriced carnival donuts. I'm not sure where the donut was made on their website but that's not the donut you can expect when you go here. The employees are super friendly which is the only positive experience I had when...
