Hwy 55 Burgers Shakes & Fries — Restaurant in Surf City

Just had what has got to be the most unbelievable and unfathomable experience at this establishment. From the moment I walked in I should have seen the signs that this “restaurant” is far from put together. Starting off we began placing a To-Go order for two chicken sandwiches with a side of salad and a side of fries, we made a request not to put cheese on our side salad, which was immediately disregarded. It gets astronomically worse from there. As we take our togo order home we bite in to what has to be chicken drier than the Sahara Desert, if google would let me add photos of the chunks of chicken I had to spit back into my bag I would post them. I then called the establishment and wondered what all came on the 55 Chicken Sandwich that we ordered, and to my surprise apparently it came with sauce, they must have forgotten the sauce in the same desert they got the chicken from, because it was nowhere to be found. To top it all off, as I find a piece of long brown hair inside my bag of French fries (overcooked French fries by the way). I would’ve chalked it up to a run of the mill unfortunate dining experience if each of these instances occurred individually. But the stockpile of mistakes and irregularities in my meal leave me with no choice other than to express the sheer absurdity and incompetence that lies within that restaurant. I hope that place...

Called in a pickup order of a cheeseburger with lettuce tomato grilled onions and pickles and mayo and ketchup with a side of fries and ranch and a water. The woman on the phone even read my order back to me. When I arrived to pick it up I did not receive a water(it was fine because it was just water tho), when I got home to eat it, the was no ranch, my burger had minuscule amount of lettuce, also had mustard which i didn’t ask for. The burger itself tasted pretty average, nothing outstanding but was enjoyable. But for the woman on the phone to read me back my order and then to not receive that stuff when i pick it up is pretty crazy. And unless the burger is cooked with mustard then i don’t know why I received mustard. Also crazy that I got maybe 10 little sliced strands of lettuce on my burger as well. The fries are gas though.

Food was good, hwy 55 is what we always look forward to eating when visiting NC. After this experience we will not be back at this location! Our waitress, Camille as listed on our receipt was not very attentive during our meal with refills or anything for that matter. After we had been done eating for 10-15 mins with our table cleared we never got a ticket. She seemed to be going around to every table around us checking in. Then after my husband had to go up and let them know he was ready to pay, they charged us for a full kids meal, when all our child got was a hot dog. No fries or drink. Other thing I noticed is that several tables had trash piled up for the entire stay that we were there. I understand during rushes that things can get hectic, but it was not busy at all and several of the wait staff were just socializing with each other.
