Surf's Up on Good Vibes and Great Grub at The Peak Taphouse!
Calling all beach bums and brew enthusiasts! If you're searching for a laid-back haven with killer eats and drinks in Surf City, look no further than The Peak Taphouse and Kitchen. This gem stole my heart (and taste buds) with its winning combination of delicious food, top-notch craft brews, and a vibe as chilled as the ocean breeze.
Let's start with the star of the show: the pizza. Forget those greasy, cardboard slabs you're used to. The Peak's pies are culinary masterpieces - a thin, crispy crust topped with fresh, flavorful ingredients. They have a few pizzas that are the house regulars on the menu, but you can make your own as you like. The dough and sauce are made in house, and there is a great variety of toppings. I ordered a pepperoni, sausage, and mushroom pie. Each slice was a perfect balance of salty, savory, and gooey goodness. Along with it, I sampled a local brew... The perfect combination!
But The Peak's magic goes beyond just the food. My server, Emily, was a rockstar! Friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about both the menu and the local beer scene, she made me feel very welcome. Her recommendations were spot-on, pairing our pizzas with the perfect craft brew. Emily's genuine warmth and bubbly personality elevated my entire experience.
The atmosphere at The Peak is like a warm hug from a salty sea dog. It's the perfect place for grabbing a bite with friends, watching the game, or simply unwinding after a day on the beach. Whether you're a local or a tourist, The Peak makes you feel right at home.
So, if you're in Surf City, do yourself a favor and skip the generic beach dives. Instead, snag a seat at The Peak Taphouse and Kitchen. With its killer pizzas, friendly service, and cool vibes, it's guaranteed to be the highlight of your coastal adventure. Just be sure to thank Emily for me – she's the secret sauce that makes this place truly epic!
Five out of five...
Read moreWe had lunch at the Peak Taphouse and Kitchen based on the good reviews. However, we cannot recommend this establishment, based on our experience. They offer 8 to 10 standard pizza selections, which you can add ingredients to. The pizzas are approximately 10 inch. I ordered the pesto cheese pizza, and my wife ordered the vegetarian pizza along with pepperoni. I ordered a craft brewery draft beer. The beer was $7.50 for a glass, and the taste was so unpleasant that I asked the bartender to pour the beer out. We then ordered a bottled beer, Samuel Smith organic chocolate, which was $6.50. The bartender never offered any discount or any type of exchange for the beer which was not drinkable. By way of comparison, another day, we ate lunch at Daddy Mac's Beach Grill, just down the street. Craft brewery bottled beer is $4.50 for any of the 15 or so craft beers they offer. So Peak Taphouse is way over priced for their craft beer. Then our pizzas came, and they were both burned on most of the bottom crust. We were able to only eat some of the pizzas. Once we had finished eating, the cook came over and saw the burned crust, and did offer to make us replacement pizzas, which was a nice gesture. We would not have been able to eat two whole pizzas, so we thanked her and declined her offer. There are other much better choices for places to have food and a beer than...
