SurfDog Bites & Brews — Restaurant in Surf City

What a cool place! We had planned on stopping at another place on the island for a quick , inexpensive bite, but didn't realize they had stopped serving food at 4. My little guy was dying for a burger. We stopped into SurfDog on a whim, first, it is really clean and bright inside. Not a huge place, but a decent amount of seating for beach counter service. You order at the counter, but they bring your food to the table. They also have two separate registers, one for food and one for brews. They have a really nice beer selection, and the menu had a lot more than just hot dogs. I was happy to see a few salad, sandwiches, and burgers alongside the hotdog menu. My son ordered a plain hot dog with ketchup , but they had about 10 other delicious selections , as well as build your own options with either ample free or a few premium toppings. It was yummy, and he ended up ordering another, despite it being huge. I had a salad with berries, blue cheese, and grilled chicken. It was also great, and very reasonably priced. We split some fries and were happy to see they were hand-cut, crisp and salty. With 2 fountain drinks, an extra side, and adding chicken to my salad we still spent less than $20 , which I'm my head is a win! We...

Went here on a solo run here during beach vacation when everyone else was napping. Had good reviews and it was literally a couple blocks from house. Glad I stumbled over. It's tucked in the corner of a small shopping center so it doesn't jump out at you, but it's well worth the stop. Menu was bigger than expected with salads, sandwiches and even some entrees. Bright and clean inside.

Got a few dogs (brought them home to share) and side of fries. Have a half dozen tables inside and a small seating bar (6-8 seats), so I sat at the bar and had a draft beer while waiting for food. Nice selection of beers (bottle and draft), and my draft was icy cold.

Food came out and I tried a fry before leaving, and then decided to eat them there. They were too good! Hot, crispy, I added some salt... perfect. Dogs were delicious even after the walk back. Toppings were ample, chili was meaty and flavorful, not just sloppy sauce, and topping selection was decent. They have some specialty dogs, but can "build your own" as well. Not had value for the $.

We saw this place before they opened and didn’t get to try it last year. When we came back this year we were searching for places to eat and saw this place again and saw it had an awesome price and food that we love eating. The atmosphere and food was amazing! We went twice today and plan on going back everyday till we leave. My husband got the special of the day Cajun brown sugar maple glaze salmon and loved it and I got the chicken tenders. They are both fresh and delicious! You can tell the owner cares about the customers and the food. We just wish we would have found this place earlier in our trip and not wasted money at overpriced restaurants that didn’t have the quality that SurfDog has! Definitely worth the stop by!
