Surfside Beach Pizza — Restaurant in Surfside Beach

Not please at all. My boyfriend and I walked in and were welcomed very nicely. We had never been there before since we are from Virginia, and the way to restaurant is set up is when you walk in you have to follow the walkway to the counter because the dining area is blocked off, and so we assumed to walk to the counter to order. Stood at the counter for 6 minutes, looked at the menu figured out what we wanted, only to be told if we were planning on dining in we needed to have a seat and someone would be with us shortly. Mind you, there were numerous employees just standing around staring at us as we were waiting to be helped at the counter. At this time, the restaurant has 2 occupied tables, so it's not busy at all. So we find a seat and it takes 4 minutes for our waiter to approach our table. It has been about 10 minutes at this point and no order has been placed. We order drinks and our appetizer and food. We got our drinks. The only time the waiter came to our table, was to bring our food. Never checked on us and my boyfriends drink was empty until the pizza came! Oh, and the first bite I go to take of my pizza, there's a hair!!! We decided it was time to go and my boyfriend asked for a box. The waiter took it back to the kitchen and the pizza didn't return for another 5 minutes. My boyfriend saw him on the phone. You aren't supposed to take a customers food from the table to box it, you box it in front of them at the table. I will never return. We picked this place because of the good reviews. I don't know if we just went during a rough shift or if these reviews are somehow biased, but I will never return to Surfside...

I went to Surfside pizza for the first time yesterday. I didn’t get a pizza which I’ve heard are very good. I was craving a steak and cheese. On the menu it has steak and cheese for $9.95 and the steak combo for $10.95. I ordered a steak and cheese with lettuce, tomato fried onions and banana peppers on the side. I didn’t get fried onions I got raw and the sub had no taste. The meat was just blah. And there was also a $.75 charge so my $9.95 sub went to $13. So I called today. Spoke to Debi asked the difference between a steak and cheese and a steak combo. She said a Dollar I said I know that but what’s the difference she said it has mushrooms and peppers on the combo. Then I asked her why I was charged $10.95 because I didn’t get any of those items on mine. She came back and told me because I got lettuce and tomato and onions. I said what those are normal items on a sub she said we pay for them so that’s why we charge you. She couldnt give me an answer what the .75 was for but said they charge 3% if you use a card which I was not advised and 3% of $10.95 is. .33 not .75 cents. I also told her that it wasn’t a very good sub anyway and she said well I’m sorry you didn’t like it and that was it. I don’t know if I’ll ever go back there again especially to order a sub I might try the...

So... It's gonna be a 3 from me.

If I could, I would do 2.5 stars. The pizza is EXCELLENT, and the closest thing to the real Jersey pizza I've become accustomed to.

However, the service is just OK at BEST. Good luck getting anyone to answer the phone on a Friday or Saturday evening. They just take the phone off the hook when they get too busy so all you get is a busy signal. Called for 45 straight minutes one after the other no lie, hang up/call again/repeat while watching TV.. Also the girl at the front counter has some serious attitude. I literally just ordered from here (couldn't get anyone to answer the phone), drove to the place and went to the counter. After my order was placed she says "sorry you sounded sad and depressed and that's not in my pay grade".. actual quote. Could not believe it, super unprofessional and seriously aggressive. Not necessary. I'm just trying to buy a pizza lady. What is your deal?

It's like this every time I come here. Food is excellent and it keeps me coming back but I don't need to be insulted or have shots taken at me when I'm just trying to eat. If you don't like your job, quit!
