I am writing this review based on the experience I had today; I gave myself a few hours to write one so the dust could settle and I can write solely on facts, and not emotions. The hostess was accommodating; I prefer not to have my back turned to the door so I opted for a table and not the sushi bar area. That is when things went south, and rather quickly at that. I planned on ordering 3 rolls, as I normally order 3 rolls and a soup when I get sushi. As I was looking over the menu, the waitress asked if I had any questions or wanted to get started. I put in an order of a roll and a drink. She asked to see my ID, which happens frequently when I go out, despite me being in my mid-thirties. She held my ID for a while and kept looking at in and back at me. She then stated, “I’m going to have my manager look this over, your nose doesn’t look the same.” I stated ok. Rage had set in. I have never had a server comment on my appearance. Let alone, my nose. I was completely mortified! The manager came over and was unsure what had happened and I informed her of the comment the waitress made and showed her personal pictures of myself when I was recovering from reconstruction surgery, which again, was no business for anyone to know let alone me having to justify why I have a slight change in how I look! I let the manager know she could have kept the comment to herself, lied and said she couldn’t find the expiration date, ANYTHING other than saying to my face, my nose is different. The manager took care of me and switched servers who was nice, but honestly I couldn’t enjoy my meal after. The GM seemed confused and was less than helpful. Stars for the manager and the new waitress. Food was mediocre, drink was sugary. One and done experience for me. As someone who travels weekly, TSA has never had a problem with my ID and my appearance. As someone who goes out to eat 3/4 days a week, no other establishment has ever been so blatantly rude and disrespectful, commenting on my looks. That server needs a hard lesson on etiquette, humanity,...
Read moreFINALLY We have a good sushi place in the West Valley! I lived in Chicago my entire life and sushi is my absolute favorite thing to eat as an adult. Chicago has some of the best sushi restaurants in the entire country in my opinion so my standards are set pretty high. I have also taken an 8-day tour from Tokyo to Osaka in Japan and tried some of the best sushi they had to offer in places most people have no idea even exist. I tried several different things today for the grand opening and out of everything I had there was honestly only one item that didn't hit the spot. Everything else was phenomenal! They have a Japanese version of an old fashioned which is also my cup of tea when having dinner and it was extremely good. The food was all fresh and very flavorful, hit a lot of different spots on the tongue. Staff was truly amazing. Our server was Joshua who could not have been more friendly and accommodating. We let him select the sushi rolls. I basically told him to pick rolls that were going to make me want to come back and he definitely hit the bullseye. Kirsten one of the managers also picked out one of the rolls and it was a great choice. It was a little off-putting that we brought our 3 and 1/2-year-old daughter with and they had open tables and we still had to wait over 30 minutes especially with a full staff on opening day but sometimes that's just the way it goes. Not going to make me leave them a bad review over that especially since they knocked it out of the park with everything else. They have a black tuna sashimi that I've never had before it's their own rendition that is marinated and a special way that only they do and I would definitely recommend getting that. The size of the white tuna is a perfect size portion for sashimi, not too overpowering. To sum it all up I would definitely recommend anybody who's looking for good sushi in the West Valley to not waste your time. It's a strike out everywhere else but a home run here. Congrats on the new location and thanks for an awesome experience. We...
Read moreWas thoroughly unimpressed. Way too overhyped. The girl at the counter quoted is a 15 minute wait time…. We waited 40+ minutes. With a wait like that I had high expectations and we were a drive from home. Saw this place on TikTok and it was made to look super authentic. Finally I had my husband ask why the wait was so long- She just said “oops the system went down and I forgot to notify people”. So we lost our spot essentially and didn’t know. The server was good and she was friendly/answered the questions but we hardly saw her. They try to be too different and unique with their rolls and that misses on some of the flavors they try to combine. I can appreciate the effort. Plus for a “fancy” place it’s a lot of salmon or fillers in the rolls or everything was fried/tempura. I got 2 rolls- one was so bad I ate 2 pieces (just to to be sure) and the other was good enough. The quality was average to anywhere you went. The wait on the rolls- also 30 minutes. The green tea was good. The calamari was the saving grace. Oddly a lot of vegan and vegetarian options…I got to a sushi place to eat fish..but atleast others are included so that’s good. A few of their items are sustainably caught. Also they don’t offer anything other than sushi and a few appetizers- hubby doesn’t want sushi all the time so that sucked for him to have no real options. To be fair we came in around 730 initially so by time we waited and finally placed our appetizer order (that took 15 minutes after sitting down) etc- most other places were closed unless we wanted fast food. We weren’t given a menu to see before hand like we asked. The atmosphere is okay but loud. The area was well kept and clean. Prices are fair for everything. If you want alcoholic drinks- they have a plethora of options. The place is half bar half sushi restaurant. We visited May 8th but I’ve only recently started reviewing places- so for the memories to stick out so much….hopefully this place improves. I want...
