Tokyo Joe's - Surprise — Restaurant in Surprise

Called the restaurant on 4/19, got hung up on 3 times before anyone even said hello. I was going to quietly address my concern with the manager but since no one wanted to talk with me I'm forced to do it here instead. We ordered on 4/18 and my total was $50.97 for 1 kids meal, 1 large bowl, 1 small bowl and 3 orders of steamed pot stickers.

The pot stickers were not even warm for being steamed. The sweet potatoes in my bowl tasted like ammonia and I spit mine out and didn't eat them in my bowl. My mother and husband also had sweet potatoes in theirs and both were throwing up last night.

I was calling today to let the manager know the sweet potatoes were "tainted" and made 2 out of 3 of us sick. All they were throwing up was the sweet potato. I would have preferred to speak to a manager privately on the phone but since no one wasn't to even say hello and just hung up I need to have my concern heard here and hopefully no one else gets sick or orders the sweet potatoes.

Food quality at the restaurant wasn't up to the normal standards and the cuts of steak were also very tough, dry and had no flavor, tasted like a poor cut of round steak with grill marks to resemble a better cut of meat. Even the teriyaki sauce didn't help it. It saddens me because this used to be the place to go to in Surprise, not anymore for us.

If this location raised it standards back up to where they used to be, answered their phone instead of picking up and hanging up it may have a chance to survive but when there are other choices where food quality is consistent, hot and fresh it makes it an easier choice to...

Be warned the PORTIONS here are EXTREMELY SMALL FOR $13 for a dollar you get two tiny slices of avocado. This was not worth me going out there to try them on top rude staff. Go to an actual poke place if you want poke they are NOT a REAL poke PLACE you are not going to get everything you only get to select very limited amount from each section on their menu and you CANNOT ADD EXTRAS FOR ANY extra CHARGES. I walked in and was looking at the menu when I got rudely interrupted and ushered to go order when I was not ready to order. Autumn the 21-year-old who took my order made it extremely difficult on me and extremely tested my patience. There is a level of being politely rude that is acceptable. Portions extremely small. Caitlin the manager was not very helpful in handling the situation she should have stepped in and taken my order when she could physically tell that I was getting frustrated with autumn. Ordered 3 bowls through their website’s delivery for me, my wife and my 2 kids. Order showed up and my kid’s bowl was missing from the order. I called the restaurant and asked if they could redeliver, they said they couldn’t because it was their mistake and not the delivery service’s. They told me that I would need to come down to pick it up if I still wanted it, and offered a free bowl coupon for the hassle.

I showed up 15 minutes later, and they hadn’t started making the bowl. I told them what I was there for and they told the kitchen to start making it. The manager came over and asked if I had been helped, I told him what I was waiting on, and he told me it would be ready in 5-10 minutes, then went back to standing around with the rest of the employees. No apology or offer to make things right.

So I essentially paid a delivery fee and a tip to drive down to the restaurant anyway and eat my cold food 45 minutes late with 2 upset kids. Don’t really care about the free bowl since I won’t be coming back, but at the very least they should’ve refunded the delivery fee, the tip and the item...
