My poor husband’s birthday dinner experience was ruined by this restaurant. I took my husband here for a Birthday dinner and we were unpleasantly disappointed of the food and the customer service we received. We have traveled all over the world for food, including Italy recently for food since we are foodies and love to explore. We decided to give this local place a try. First, I found a disgusting hair in my expensive meal and both the waiter and the manager on duty did not appear to care enough about it to do something about it nor to sincerely apologize. The manager on duty did not bother to come and apologize to us for the inconvenience this nauseating experience had created for me. When we informed the waiter about the hair, the waiter simply said “these things happen” as if this was normal and expected us to be satisfied with that response. He did not apologize right away and instead offered me a new meal but at that point, I was no longer interested in eating their food because the hair made me nauseous. The waiter did not offer any other alternative options to resolve the problem such as taking the plate off the bill or speaking to a manager. Traditionally, when something bad happens with your food at $$ restaurants, it is customary for the waiter to immediately bring this to the attention of the manager AND for the manager to come to your table and at least apologize on behalf of the cooks/restaurant. Unfortunately, none of this was done. The manager did not come to apologize and when we asked the waiter if we could speak to the manager, he hesitated and said “but I said I’m sorry already” as if he gets to make that choice and as if that was the appropriate response as a waiter. The waiter had a bit of a passive aggressive attitude when we were requesting to speak to his manager. We simply wanted to ensure that rhe manager knew that hair had been found in my food which had made me nauseous so that it wouldn’t happen again to another customer. At no point was was a discount offered to me for the inconvenience which again restaurants traditionally do when there is something wrong with the food. I wasn’t expecting a free meal but i at least expected an apology from the manager. The manager eventually came around after we insisted on speaking to her. She was not very responsive to our concern either. Regarding the food, the small portion of food that I was able to taste before the whole hair dilemma happened was descent but I will probably never visit this place again based on the unprofessional, unresponsive, and unpleasant customer service we received at this place by both the waiter and the manager. We felt unheard and uncared for as customers. Also, if you are visiting this place for the first time, please be mindful of the hidden or easily misunderstood ‘up charges’ that they have on their menu. If you change your sauce selection, it could end up costing you an extra $8-12 additional just for an upgrade in sauce and if your waiter doesn’t explain this to you in advanced or fails...
Read moreThis is the first negative review I’ve ever written, and I wish it weren’t necessary.
I visited Gabriella’s on a Monday evening for a family member’s birthday. We had a reservation for 7 p.m. and were greeted and seated promptly. The atmosphere was warm and the waiter was pleasant throughout. We were a party of five, and with menu prices reflecting a high-end dining experience, my partner and I decided to share a meal to be mindful of costs. We ordered the Chicken Alfredo, along with a side Caesar salad and crab soup. The rest of the family ordered their own entrées, and we also ordered calamari to start.
Shortly after - we received the bread, the soup and Caesar salad. Unfortunately, this is where the entire experience took a turn.
After eating about half of the Caesar salad, I noticed something moving — a live worm crawling in the lettuce. I have a video, which I’m attaching here. Needless to say, I completely lost my appetite.
I notified our waiter, who was apologetic and offered to bring out a replacement salad. I declined — at that point, I was shocked and uncomfortable eating anything further from the restaurant. The waiter took the salad away, and I quietly excused myself from the table and left.
About ten minutes later, the rest of my family followed, deciding to take their meals to go after also losing their appetites. What made the situation even more disappointing was that our party was still charged in full for their meals — the only item removed from the bill was the Chicken Alfredo I had ordered.
I understand things like this can happen, and that it’s very possible the worm came in with the produce. But it reflects a serious lapse in kitchen oversight — the greens were clearly not washed thoroughly. What I found most disappointing was that no manager or chef came to the table to acknowledge the issue or offer a personal apology. A family of five leaving the restaurant before the main courses are served should have been cause for concern.
This was my first visit to Gabriella’s, and sadly, it will also be my last. I genuinely hope this feedback is taken seriously and leads to better quality control in the future. No guest should have to experience something like this — especially on what was meant to be a...
Read moreNever Again! I have attempted to change my opinion on this place twice and both times I have walked out beyond disappointed sadly. First time I went I might as well have been kicked out the door for showing up with no reservations and not being offered even a time of how long I could wait to be seated because they were extremely busy, the second time was a surprise from my wife for my birthday, she made sure to have reservations which covered not running into the last scenario again, we get seated and the waiter was so unenthusiastic it was ridiculous, we place our orders and we get our appetizers and salads all is great so far, mid entre my wife finds a long hair in her food, we call our waiter and show him the hair and he says oh these things happen, No apology what so ever, just asks her if she wants a new one made, No we don't want a new one we want to speak to a manager, the waiter then questions why we want to speak to a manager, my wife tells him because we deserve an apology for our food not being prepared properly and hygienicly. He then says but I apologized, when he clearly did not! At this point he was being extremely passive aggressive and for some reason thought we'd be interested in dessert, No we don't want any more food with hair in it! The manager finally comes to the table and literally asks what we needed her at the table for, my wife literally had to ask for the apology, which was pathetic because she offered nothing to make up for the fact that my wife's dinner had been ruined and when we complained about the waiters lack of customer service she defended him for some ridiculous reason, we asked for the check and left. Don't let people fool you there are better places to go to for Italian food, I've been to Milan, Venice, Rome, Pisa and Florence just for food so I know italian food first hand I also know how friendly Italian people are and this is a bad representation of the italian culture. You're better off going somewhere else...
