I want to start by saying the tamales here are really good. My previous experience went without a hitch. I ordered black bean tamales, queso birria tamales, chicken tamales, corn on the cob, and a combo vegetarian tamale. I placed the order online which made me pay up front. 2 minutes later I get a call to tell me they don’t have the quesadilla birria tamales or the bean tamales. We substituted the birria tamales for birria tacos and requested a refund for bean tamales being that is their ONLY vegan option. The employee said to me “I can’t, try on the website”. There is not an option for refund on website and all she said is I don’t know then. I have to now get more food that I can’t eat because the staff did not know how to refund me for items they don’t have available. I do want to add that this is their own personal website not door dash or uber eats. There was no manager on site and this was an order placed at 7pm and they close at 10 pm. We arrived at the restaurant and the staff did not apologize just handed us the food.
After we get our items. We paid $4 for a corn on a cob that looked less than appealing and the vegetarian tamale combo was missing one tamale and the beans did not have any cheese. The picture said two and we got a very small one. Sadly this experience has now changed where I go for tamales. Although they were good in the previous visit the inconvenience and lack of proper handling of an order with items that are not available on their site is enough for me to find somewhere new.
UPDATE: 4/27 I was contacted by management with a sincere apology about the hiccup. I’m glad that they will be training their staff to handle these unfortunate situations and u will come again. Thanks Stacy, for...
Read moreSo this is 5 years later from my below review. I enjoyed my lunch but what I didn't enjoy was the misleading online menu prices. You show a pic say of tamale plate says it includes 2 tamales. Price is obviously a base price because you then add the tamales to the order with their own price. So if it includes 2 tamales it should not be a separate item to choose and pay for. Charge more make it a complete dish and be up front about it. Surely Im not the only one who sees the confusion here. Make it clear don't make it look)read like you're getting a,b,c, and whatever else is "included" when it is not. The price reflects A which is beans and rice I guess but then you have to choose the 2 tamales at extra cost where the description 2 tamales included. And please don't act like the customer didn't order right when it's not clear and especially when you've given them something entirely different from what they ordered. Like I said it was pretty good I enjoyed it but I'm just sayin'. This may only be an online issue but an issue non the less.
i spotted them while out on lunch break and had to stop even though I had packed a lunch! My intention was to try the tamales but did not see the meat options listed obviously on the menu as they are categorized by sauce type (which I discovered later on the take out menu). So I ordered sopes which I love but not many places carry them. The flavors were good and the mild red and green sauce on the bar were both tasty with just the right kick. However the masa was a bit fork tough and rubbery, took effort to cut as though microwaved. Aside from that it was good. I will come back and try the...
Read moreOn Saturday, March 2nd at 2:42pm, I placed an online order on their website. I received a text notifying me that my order would be ready at 3:02pm.
I arrived at the restaurant at 3pm. The cashier apologized to me because my online order was not processed in their system. She asked me if I wanted to wait another 15 minutes. By this point I was hungry, had already paid, and agreed to wait 15 more minutes.
After sitting, I asked one of the lady’s if I could have half of my order because I was hungry and had already waited for longer than 30 minutes. I received half of my order and are. I was not offered any water or anything for my wait.
Then, the rest of my meal arrived. I was so hungry that I ate in the car on my way to my appointment. While eating my food, I discovered a long strand of black hair. It was cooked into my food. I noticed pieces of my food was stuck to the hair. It was completed gross. I immediately lost my appetite.
I called the restaurant to explain what I discovered in my food and my experience. I asked for a manager and the young lady on the phone told me the manager was out of the country in Mexico. I asked if I could speak to someone else who was in charge or available, and she told me that no one else was available. There was no apology or retention given. The customer service experience was not pleasant after explaining that there was hair in my food. So here I am.
I’m very disappointed because I’ve ate here for years, but after my experience today - I don’t feel comfortable returning.
Please be more careful and safe while cooking food, and please improve the customer experience during...
